Please read before requesting.

There have been a number of recurring request threads as of late. I figured I'd compile a list of the common ones and the threads eventual outcome.

Girls and Boys forum: This idea has been brought up many times. The answer is no. It would be hard to keep the topics private from the other gender (which would be the point of the forum in the first place). Recently, the administration has tried to promote unity throughout the forum, and these forums could cause division. Try to get a good group of Christian friends from the same gender, and discuss your problems or questions with them.

Age specific forum: This has also been brought up several times and was shot down for similar reasons as above.

Online Bible Study/Online Christian Mentoring forum: The administrative staff feels that the internet should not be a replacement for one on one mentoring and Bible study. Get involved in a local church for these things.

Health/Medical forum: Although there are several people on this forum who work in the medical field, it has been decided that a Health/Medical forum should not be created. Medical advice should be given by a professional doctor/nurse/ or pharmacist. If you have a problem please consult your doctor.

Can we organize the music forums by genre? This is unnecessary. The Christian Music and Secular Music forums are no where near busy enough to necessitate subforums based on genre. In addition, it's difficult to define genres. One person's rock is another's hardcore. It would just cause unnecessary discussions on what genres certain bands belong to.

BEFORE requesting a new forum, ask yourself a few questions.

1. Is there already a forum for this? Can this topic fit fine in an already existing forum? Please check the forum list and see if there already is a forum, or do a search to see if the topic has an existing thread and add your comments to there. Also, has someone already requested this forum? Do a search in this forum to see if it has been requested and why it was denied. Has that reason changed? If not then please do not request it again. It will be denied again for the same reason.

2. Is there enough traffic in the existing threads to warrant a separate forum?

3. Can I back up my request with some good reasons to support the creation of this forum/subforum? Many users think we already have too many forums, and it takes a bit of work for the Admins to add a forum. Generally before a forum is created, there is quite a bit of discussion to prove that there interest and cause to warrant the forum's creation.

Let me know if you think I missed something.

Even better:

Before requesting a forum, search this forum to see if someone has already requested it.

I added it.

I figure you'll always get some n00bs that won't do a search before requesting, so hopefully a list like this will help them out.

Well, the denominations forums are gone now, so the question about that is kind of a non-issue. But a couple of people have asked about music forums by genre recently, so maybe we could add that to the list.

Might be a detail, but I think that "Age-Specific" forum might be more inclusive than "Teens", because 18+/21+ forums have been suggested as well.
