If you're dual-booting why do you need iTunes on your linux?

Because I want to be able to listen to music while I'm running my Linux. Also, at some point I would like Linux to replace Windows as my primary system. It's more secure for going online. Less chance of getting viruses.

You do realize there's a bunch of other media apps for Linux right?

QFT.

Rhythmbox is my personal favorite. Syncs with iPods too.

I definitely gave up on getting any version of iTunes running in Ubuntu. It may be possible, but Rhythmbox is doing the job just fine. If I need to I will boot into XP for iTunes or use a family members Mac, but that is very rare (usually just for iOS updates).

Oh, there's a media player app for Linux? I didn't know this. Thank you, I will definitely look into that.

There's a ton of them out there.
Plus, there's usually at least one packed into every distro afaik.

Rockbox is good. I'm a fan of Amarok myself, though.

Rhythmbox, BMP, Banshee, XMMS, and Audacious are also pretty popular.

For video, it's hard to beat VLC.

Hmm I'll have to look into those. Do they store libraries too?

Yup. If I remember correctly I was able to set it up so that Rhythmox in Ubuntu and iTunes on XP both shared the same library. I've since changed my configuration so I can't quite remember how that worked. It may have been as simple as pointing both of them to the same folder.

I started to use Rhythmbox back when I had my sansa, but it couldn't edit ID3 tags so I used Banshee.

Rockbox is actually an open source firmware, not a media player, that you install on a media device (sadly, they don't support iPod touches), and I had nothing but trouble with Amarok
