What are the best new praise songs?

My friend would like to start up a praise band. We wouldn't be real big or anything, but you gotta start small. Maybe eventually we could sell CDs and everything. Anyways, he was looking for some new praise songs that many people wouldn't know, but they would surely enjoy, like Sonicflood type stuff. Any suggestion? God Bless and keep playin'

I'm not sure how to answer this question because more and more church go-ers are getting more and more into the Christian music scene and are getting more and more educated about whats out there, so nothing can really surprise most people anymore. But off the top of my head there are some relatively obscure groups and sources that might fancy you:

Exit 10 - formerly the passion tour band (exitten.com)

7:22 - weekly conference in atlanta, video.722.org for updated webcast of meetings, if you want the latest out there, they'll be playing it. good luck getting copies of the songs cause a lot aren't even recorded yet, I would say this may be a REALLY good place for you to keep modern.

the bands MercyMe and Ten Sheckel Shirt.

Hillsongs has a line of young energetic worship, the albums Youth Alive and United Live come to mind, also a specific song called 'God is Great'

Todd Proctor, Jason Upton, 2 more not so well known worship leaders.

these are just things popping into my head, its 6 am and i need to sleep.

good luck with the band thing. The band I'm in started that exact same way. We covered praise songs on our cds (i do not recommend this without covering your copyright bases) and now we're coming out with an album soon of original stuff.

That is the awesomest song! I don't have their cd yet but I am going to get it for Christmas! My parents don't keep secrets very well.

I think Avalon's "Adonai" is really good, and all the songs on MWS's Worship.
