I think most of them are just not paying attention to the writing section yet...so I don't think anyone really knows what a good score is. And now that you can get combined scores...yeah

I'd say an 1800 would be considered a "good" score, meaning missing 25% of the points per each part.

Well each section is out of 800 points. On an 800 point scale what is considered good? Take that and multiply by 3 and bam you have the number of a good SAT score.

But keep in mind, the new SAT is horrid. Not as in being hard just in its poor and annoying design.

Right, well for the old SAT a 1200 was considered somewhat of a benchmark number for having a good score, which translates into about a 600 per section. So I deduce that an 1800 would be considered "good."

Then again, it depends on who you ask.
Or does it?
"Does it depend on who you ask?"
"No."
"I stand corrected."
"Or do you?!"
"Do you stand corrected?"
"Yes."
"Okay, I'm confused."

Me too

I talked to some of my friends, and they said that about 1800 or 1900 is about average...I do know a lot of people who get above that, though.

1800-1900 is most certainly not the average...

The average math score is 520, the average verbal is 508, I cannot find the actual information on the writing other than that it is around the 500 range. So the actual average is around 1500.

If you want good as in colleges will love you, 1500 (awesome old score) / 2 (old number of parts) * 3 (new number of parts) =2250. That's if you're hitting Ivy's and the other prestigious colleges, though 1550 was the minimum score for a lot of them. I'd say at least a 2000 for an okay score. But then again my parents insist that I must ace the SAT or come pretty darn close, especially if I'm to get the scholarship I desperately need, so my ladder may be pretty bad.

My friend just got a 2390. I'm so jealous...

Correction: 1900 is the average at my school. Sorry about that

You'll be busy doing PSATs in sophmore year (well you take a practice in sophmore year, and the real thing in junior year)...so don't really worry about them until junior year

He's studied Latin and Greek since he was in third grade, so he aced the reading. we are both in Calc III / Diff Eq. so the math is a piece of cake, but he missed one. And he's insanely good at writing essays, so he aced that. Net result: 2390.

Actually, I have another friend who aced the SAT, but he took it last year.

Um, take the SAT during your junior year in high school, but start studying you freshman year. It will make it easier for you.

I took the PSAT this year (as a Freshman) and it was soooo easy. I scored well. Which is good.
