| I read and write violin/fiddle tabs.
Although, for what you are desiring to learn, I suggest learning to read sheet music, and by ear first. That way you will know the correct placement for your fingers.
For the type of music I play and teach, it is almost entirely ear learning. If I have a student or friend that can't pick it up well by ear, I tab it out as a help for their initial learning, then encurage them to memorize it.
If you know the key in which the song is played, and correctly mark any accidentals it is actually quite easy to read tab.
