I understand the amp builders do it to bring down cost but really is it that big of a price difference to put some decent tubes in their amps.
the roockmaster likes gt's better than JJ's btw. I have one that came with stock groove tubes, but a couple of those went out...

Actually im glad not to have to deal with tubes going out biasing and that stuff anymore. Im happy with my Warhead. Although im on the receiving end of a lot of tube snobbery from tube zombies now.

you're thinking of bob at Eurotubes.com I got my JJs (a full set) from him.

Ironically the "proper bias" for my GTs was way too hot for the JJs I received. I rebiased and what read at 68mV for the JJs was like 45mV for the GTs. I sold the amp to Kato and he put the JJ pre-amp tubes in and (last I checked) was running the cold-biased GTs in the power-section. I did find that running the cold biased tubes gave a dramatic increase in headroom though I never really played around with the idea too much.

I was reffering to preamp 12ax7's...

btw, some peaveys do not have sucky tubes. On some of the older stuff they have quite excellent tubes.
