bought a c-1 elite (black) thinking about turning it back

I recently bought a c-1 elite from guitar center. cost me $700 with a 2 year warranty and strap locks.

I am thinking about turning it back because the humbuckers are pretty bad and there is a lot of buzzing on the first three strings. Also, it is mostly a rythm guitar. I play leads but it just doesn't sound like other schecters i have played. The g doesn't stay in tune very well, as others have said on their reviews. I was thinking about getting an 006 elite first but Guitar Center didn't have it.

any advice?

Yeah getting the guitar set-upcorrctly could make a whole world of different. And how in the world is a schecter a rythem guitar, how is any guitar just a lead or rythem guitar this makes no since.

I think you got ripped off. C-1 Classics go for $700 new, and they have real Seymour Duncans. Wierd.

i think you should return it and get another of the same one. one of my friends has a c-1 elite, and it is awesome! it came w/ real Seymour Duncans in it, it totally stays in tune, and there is absolutely no fret buzz.

I almost want to blame the amp...

Raise the bridge on that side.

No it's not.

Dud string? Bad intonation? Get a fresh set of strings and have that guitar set-up and intonated. It'll make a world of difference.

Welcome to CGR, BTW.

What amp do you have? What amp did you play the guitar through at the store?

As for the bad tone, that sounds like an amp problem. Ive played on the elite, and classic models. Both sound really amazing (thru a variety of amps).

The G string going out of tune is most likely tuner problem.

And the buzzing is fret buzz. It means that your strings are to low, you need to (like rainer said) raise that part of the bridge.

You would do that using a 1/16" hex key (allen-wrench). If your guitar didnt come with one, you can buy them at almost any hardware store.

Also, change the strings. Stock strings in my experience are crap, and generally wont last very long (and are often enough dingy already from being used by other customers).

Here's a place for me to make this comment:

I played my Yamaha Pacifica, still with stock pickups through a Line 6 Spider II 212 at GC for fun, then a Schecter C-1 Classic with the same amp settings both times. They sounded almost identical. The tone difference between a $180 guitar and a $700 guitar was very minute... It's the amp for sure.

Incorrect. The C-1 Elite has a Tune-O-Matic style bridge. Raise it using the thumbscrews on the sides of the bridge when the strings are loose.

Oh ok, my bad.

Im so used to the bridge on my guitar, I hardly pay attention to the gear on other guitars, lol.

Ok, so the poster needs to ignore my comment about that 1/16" hex-key, lol.

my 2 amps are very guitar sensitive. By that I mean, you hear a big difference between guitars. the c-1 sounds different than the ibanez and did sound different than the homeade sg. (which is currently undergoing surgery.)

yep, the solid state I sold, my wife could tell too. And she knows guitar gear like I know rap. (I know nothing about rap)

It can be a big difference, but digital seems the least guitar dependant to me, but I have stated why I personally can't take digital before, so it could be just my quirky ears.
