| Anyone here make their own RP systems? I've been working on one for a while. Usually will get sidetracked and start on another, and then merge them, and work on that. But overall, it's been work on one game.
Anyone got something odd about their systems?
Mine uses stones and cubits to measure weight and height, since I couldn't get anything else to go for a 1 to 1 ratio type thing.
Also, I'm using an alignment system based partly off of the sanity system from Call of Cthulhu, and some from the Ennui bits from The End (like anyone here's played that...).
Oh, and I'm not going to do a weapons or armor section. Just a couple of simple formulas to figure out "if it does this much damage, and has this much of an affect on attack" or "if it blocks this much damage" and so on.
(Anyone that's bought GURPs stuff will be familiar with this) the rules for the setting are completely indepentant from the actual gaming system.
As for the actual setting, I've tried to basically go without filler (though there's argueably more than say, Legendary Quest, but definately less than D&D). It's based mostly on crackpot theories, a dash new-age manure, and plenty of mythology (old and more modern, as opposed to LQ, which is just old mythology). About the only things that aren't tracable to this:
The land inside the hollow earth is called Rhye. Why? Because there are seven seas, and Queen had a song called "Seven Seas of Rhye".
There's an artifact called "sunshine in a bag", which rests in the land Austrivid, in the city Clinton. Why? Gorillaz had a song called Clint Eastwood (Austri-east, vid-wood, Clint is sometimes a nickname for Clinton, or could mean "town of Clint"), with the refrain "I'm happy, I'm feeling glad, I got sunshine in a bag..."
There may be others, but I can't remember then off the top of my head.
