be random.

I act random when I converse with my girlfriend, adn it works... of course that might be becasue I am a very random person.
SOmetimes I will think of a stupid thing I heard on tv (like off of family guy) and just randomly say it whenever it gets quiet, and then she'll be liek "what?" and I will tell ehr about the episode.
or you can talk about politics
or God (this one isn't a joke. the politics one was!)

definitely, always be random...I don't know, some people I talk with are simply great conversationlists, and others are great listeners, like you said. Whenever I get bored I bring up something about spirituality or philosophy...just something that sparks a debate, like politics (as Thrash mentioned).

yeah. debate is good because you get to know more about that persons opinions and how they think.

Unfortunately, I think we're both better listeners than we are conversationalists.

I hate to stir up the dust here but what's all this "help the other person grow in Christ" jazz I hear people talking about? How can YOU possibly help another person grow in Christ? Perhaps I misunderstand. *very curious*

PS. If this is too off topic please feel free to PM me anyone

The question idea is great. I do that with my girlfriend every now and then just for some randomness. We can cover a very broad range of subjects in a little amount of time, and if you ask the right questions, you'll find that you'll learn a lot about the other person that you may not have known before.
