Demon Hunter was on mtv or so and on the resident evil track, i know. Pillar is having alot of shows, i know. but i mean theyre christian and not like U2 "most are christian but we aren't a christian band" (if you know what i mean). and if using the word mainstream in some way... we're in the world so we are in the mainstream by just breathing. then well have to wait for heaven so we wont be mainstream anymore. wich actually would define mainstream as "in the world". but you know the words "in the world but not from the world" (makes me think of Alien Youth - Skillet)
Considering those bands' popularity within Christian music, they're totally mainstream. They may not be played everywhere, but go to some Christian youth event, and it's hard not to hear at least one song by Pillar.

However, a band like Unwed Sailor probably doesn't come up in the popular scene much at all, Christian or Secular, so I would consider Unwed Sailor a non-mainstream band. But Unwed Sailor is a freaking aweosme band, which everyone should check out, more towards the instrumental/ambient/post-rock style.

there's a big difference between being a mainstream band and being signed to a mainstream label. i'm with rainier on his unwed sailor example.
