Wembly Shadwell

Those of you around here may remember me being in a band called Nova Child. Well, Nova Child is dead (in case you didn't already realize that). We separated on very congenial terms. Brad and Liz are starting a new, seperate project called The Madison Darlings (I know, great name).

I on the other hand have begun an endeavor in to the realm of experimental and instrumental music by the name of Wembly Shadwell. We are a group of 4 just trying to write what we think is beauty. Please tell us what you think. Add us. Leave comments. Or reply here. We have a couple shows in line for us. Possibly a big one in February here in Greenville, IL, and another one in St. Louis in March. So if you're in the area and would like to hear us live, we'll keep you posted about the details when we know them.

Dang, I had no idea Nova Child was no more. That's sad. But I look forward to The Madison Darlings and Wembly Shadwell.

It was for the better. After a while, none of were really in to the music we were playing anymore. The Madison Darlings was inevitable, my leaving was too. We all knew it was gonna happen. Wembly Shadwell is what I've been wanting to do for a while, and I found some really talented guys to do it.

I took a listen and I really enjoy it. Are you going to add any vocals or just keep it instrumental? I almost think that lyrics would get in the way.

For the most part, no lyrics. We're primarily instrumental, but we will have some songs in the future that will have singing or possibly spoken word. We're still in the process of writing and developing new material. Thanks for listening.

I'm hearing a Mogwai influence, perhaps? I like this very much, as did my roommate.

Perhaps indirectly. I personally had never actually heard their music until you said that and I went and found some (which, btw, thank you, because they're awesome). There's a chance one of the other members are influenced by them and I don't know. Our immediate influences are listed on our myspace.

Okay, that's cool. First bands I thought of when I listened to the music on myspace were Mogwai and GY!BE. A little more focused and melodic though, which I really like.

There's a little Godspeed in us I think. I'm personally really influenced by Explosions in the Sky and a little Unwed Sailor, just to name a couple.

Excellent. I rather enjoy Unwed Sailor but I haven't heard any Explosions in the Sky. I'll have to check into them.

I just thought I would clarify something about the music we have on our myspace. All three are movements from one song. It's about 4 or 5 movements total, and if you read the blog entry on our myspace, you kinda get some insight to the whole thing.

We just received confirmation that Lovedrug will be playing a show at Greenville College on February 6th. We were one of the bands asked to open for them. All I have to say is heck ya!
