Scientific Research

The recent discussion on bigotry, and stereotypical comments has led me to conduct this research on the ethnic diversity of CGR (not to mention my own recent geneology research). Please select the poll selection that best fits your heritage. If you have more than one country of origin please select the ancestry most present in your bloodline, and make a note of the others in the thread below. Thank you.

FYI I'm mostly German and Norwegian, with enough Danish thrown in to have a slight temper at times.

Please correct the "oriental" option. It is horrid to assume that a person from China has anything in common with a person from Persia or Japan.

Oh, and the Eurocentrism of the above poll is also interesting.

Aww, come on, you've gotta expect a little Western bias...

I do, and I find it both uneducated and comical.

More ironic is the fact that the poll asks specifically for a country...

I knew I shouldn't have done a poll. Because whenever I post a poll a heated debate comes up. You want me to close the thread?

Well, I agree that you shouldn't have done a poll, but not for the reason you listed. The problem is that there are well over 50 countries, and CGR only lets you list 50 poll options.

I'm sorry, I was just trying to generate something new to the Forum, You know how the same old same old gets boring sometimes.

I'm not saying you did anything wrong. I'm saying that it would be completely impossible to ask this question with a poll when limited to 50 options.

None of those places above are countries.

........... you, sir, are picky. Ireland is a country. I was moreso commenting on the fact that Oriental and Pacific Islands comprise many countries. Irish does not, so I see no reason to be picky about the form of the word.
