Ok, here's a new thread for you guys to respond to:
How many pets do you own?
I wonder who has the most pets... it could be me, because this is what I have:

1 miniature horse
2 nubian dairy goats
2 dogs (jack russel terrier and australian shepherd)
9 chickens
1 peahen (female peacock)
1 guinea
1 rabbit
1 ball python
1 tarantula
1 giant african 8" millipede

I think that's all!!

Amy

Cool

You could make a zoo out of all those pets! I have none.

We're soon to have alot more chickens, too, because we have about 30 chicken eggs in an incubator right now. They should hatch on exactly Feb. 22nd. If they all hatched, that would be 30 chickens! But often there is only a 50% or less hatch, and we will only keep the hens. We'll sell, or possible eat, the roosters (since I just learned how to butcher and cook chickens).

Cool... nothin like fresh chicken, yum! Man, that makes me hungry just thinking about it! My parents live on a farm, but right now we have only two and a half animals! It's weird! We used to have two dogs and two cats and the neighbor's dog (who thinks he lives with us). But one dog got hit by a car and one cat disapeared. We are going to get another dog or two, but not another cat... the one we have left likes being the only cat way too much. Dad wants to get a goat or two to keep down on the stuff he has to mow. I'm trying to get him to get Alpacas instead!

Yeah, someone dropped a rooster off at our house and we couldn't have roosters. So my mom let me fix it up and have it for dinner last night!

You could get a Nubian goat (like I have) and then you could get it's milk! Goat milk tastes surprisingly similar to cows milk. We milk our goat every day and drink the milk.

Actually, the only pet I have right now is a White's Tree Frog and I only have him out of a random act of kindness. The girl that had him first didn't feed him hardly ever and then some friends of mine got him and took better care of him. Anyway, those friends were moving to the west coast (via car) and could not take him, so I was nice enough to keep the little fella. He's okay, I guess, but as far as pets go...he's not much of a companion. I'm probably going to give him to a someone who is building a nice terrarium very soon.

My ideal pet would be a dog...like maybe a golden retriever or a german shepherd...or even a cool mutt. I'd just like to have a dog of my own since I left the world's coolest family dog at home when I moved out on my own. I'd also like to get a hedgehog sometime too, but Mickey would probably insist on painting it blue and calling it Sonic.

IHPL,
Kelly

Amy, you just murdered a rooster last night? I forfeit the contest, (although I'm losing anyway) because I don't want the same thing to happen to me. I always wanted a giant penguin... It would be fun to paint an electrified squirrel with yellow and call it pikachu.

lol!
I felt sad to do it to him, but there was simply nothing else I could do. No one wanted him, and we couldn't keep him. Not to mention he was aggressive -- he almost tried to attack my sister.

Yeah, man! Roosters are evil! So are boar pigs! My Grandaddy used to have a farm and he used to have a "burglar alarm system." It consisted of some Guinea Fowl (b/c they are so scared of anything that goes bump in the night and when they get scared they make a horrible racket) and some boar pigs (b/c they are the meanest creatures on God's green earth... especially when they are woken up in the middle of the night by prowlers setting off the Guinea hens). He said that it worked really well. They had a guy almost killed once by "the system" and nobody ever tried sneaking into their house again. He said it also worked for coyotes.

Okay, how did we get on the subject of Mickey's real name in the middle of the pet discussion anyway? I'm just curious.

Yeah, roosters can be really mean. We already had a rooster, and two roosters fight, so that was one of the reasons we had to kill it. While we were killing it, it was flapping all around and our rooster thought it was one of "his hens" (since he is so protective of them) and he ran up and began to seriously attack me! I'm lucky I didn't lose an eye! I do have scratches all up and down my arm, though.
