Honeymoooooooon.

Those of you who are married...where did you go?
Those who are not...where do you plan to?
We need some ideas.
Joel's sister is giving us our honeymoon, and at first the plan was either hawaii or a cruise....but neither is really....our style. We would much rather go somewhere that we would enjoy..and maybe have it be a little less expensive. Right now we're actually thinking of either Colorado or Seattle. Something of that sort. Somewhere we can have funfunfun. We are not princesses...We don't necessarily want to be pampered all the time.
Mmmk.
Go ahead.
Give ideas.

Well...My honeymoon was paid for out of my own pocket, and I was 20, so I had little money (im only ALMOST 22 now). We opted to go to a cottage type place an hour and a half from here. We were the only ones within 100 acres or so. It was pretty cool. The whoe thing only cost around $350

A nice Bed and breakfast would be cool and not too expensive. You could get one near the national wildlife reserve in Colorado. My wife and I didn’t have a honeymoon, we went home and I went to work that Monday. We did go on a cruise for our 19th anniversary. It was great we had a blast, I would definitely consider the cruise, you don’t have to be pampered but you can if you want. You should bring some money with you even if the cruise is paid for, shore excursions can get expensive. If we take another childless vacation it will definitely be a cruise.

Peace

Chris & I were on a budget also. We went to Niagara falls for a few days and then went to Stratford and stayed in a nice little B & B for a few days and went to see a play.

It was nice just to have a few days away, to relax.

My Chris and I were on a budget as well so we stayed a couple nights in a suite at the hotel that we got married at, first night was free because it was included in the wedding package. The we went down to Dana Point (kinda between Laguna Beach and La Jolla/San Diego) in So Cal and stayed in a really nice little Bed & Breakfast. It was a really nice time of relaxing, getting to "know" each other, and enjoying each other. It wasn't some place where we wanted to go see a bunch of sights and do all the touristy stuff. A "Destination" honeymoon is nice, but if it is someplace you have always dreamed of visiting, then you will either miss out on a majority of touristy stuff because you will want to spend time together, or you will miss out on a majority of time together because you will be "seeing the sights".

We're planning on going to a cottage somewhere just to relax, probably the Lake District as that is absolutely beautiful!
we were originally planning on doing some kind of mission trip but after speaking to a couple of friends who got married 18 months ago they said we will be absolutely shattered after the wedding and will just want to collapse somewhere for a week so thats what we're going to do

God bless, Rich

Well...I am pretty positive we have decided on going to Seattle (I am sure Carly will be happy to hear this). It's a city we've never made it to, and wanted to...it's somewhere with stuff to do if we want...but laid back enough if we don't. Plus..the three hotels we are deciding on are absolutely amazing...modern, artsy, excellent cuisine. It will be heaven.

We went to an amusement park and a couple of concerts during the week after we got married, but mostly we just chilled and enjoyed the time off from work.

I just got married three months ago, and my wife and I got a chalet up in the Smokey Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN. Gatlinburg is a tourist/shopper/foodie's dream come true, but the chalets right up the mountain (5 min or less out of town) feel so secluded, like you're out in the middle of nowhere. Also, Great Smokey Mountain National Park is right there (and I mean right there) too. We went horseback riding, visited Ripley's Aquarium, went miniature golfing, saw live music, did a great deal of shopping, went ice skating, and ate everything from local pizza to fine dining, not to mention spending a great deal of time just enjoying the chalet.

The chalets are surprisingly inexpensive. We were originally planning to go to San Antonio, San Diego, or Kansas City, and it turned out that a nicely equipped chalet (meaning full kitchen, 1 and 1/2 bathrooms, indoor jacuzzi, and porch complete with hot tub) in Gatlinburg would cost less than a decent hotel room in any of those places.

We didn't go in winter, but it appears the place is also quote the skier's haven when it gets cold.

Beyond all that, theplace is just GORGEOUS. Check it out.

I'm not married yet, but I hope to go somewhere tropical, like Fiji, or Hawaii. I think that would be fun It'd be a new experience for me, because having lived in AZ since I was 1 makes me hate dryness, deadness, desolate landscapes, and brown plants. Tropical places have waterfalls, beaches, lush, green landscapes, and the sort. I would very much enjoy that But I'm thinkin' I'd enjoy my honeymoon just about anywhere we went

Signed heartily. Tourism was just the icing on the cake for me.

Tropical places are hot... not the best place for a honeymoon...

I went on a cruise to mexico. It was a gift. Then I borrowed a condo for a week in Palm springs. It only worked out well because of air conditioning.

Hmmm... that could be a problem. I may get married in the winter just for that reason. Because I really really want to have my honeymoon somewhere tropical. But yeah, I guess humidity would be annoying on a honeymoon. I have a few years to think about it- I'm barely 17.

Seattle = heaven. mmm hmmm.

The Experience Music Project is a fun place if you are into (modern) music history.

Also, you might consider taking a short trip to Canada while you are there. The Victoria Clipper leaves from Seattle and is only like a 3 or 4 hour ride. Victoria is a beautiful city and is very tourist-friendly -- lots of cabs and tons of stuff within walking distance.
