Houston, We have a Problem!

Ok, I've been playing with ths thing on and off for about a week now.I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT.

Anyone else having any problems?

Well first off, I don't read music. So trying to figure out time sig and all that I'm completely lost. I couldn't tell if a song is 3/4, 4/4, 100/4 or what. next I put a chord in, and then I can't put any others in. This program looks nice, but seems like you have to spend way too much time on it.

That can't-read-music thing would present a great problem for anybody trying to use this program, or just about any music program for that matter. So I'm not sure I could explain time signatures. And I'm not sure what you mean when you put in a chord. Are you talking about putting a chord into tab or about the staff?

all you do is go to where the 6 lines are. from bottom to top they are E A D G B E(the guitar strings). click where you want a note to go, and press a number that corresponds to the fret number the note is played at. like if its an F on the low E string, you click on the bottom line and press 1. a 1 will appear. now, go to the bottom of the screen, and click on the correct note length for the note. like quarter, half, or what have you. and to make a chord, just go to more then one line, and press in the numbers for each string. i hope this helps. if not, let that xkcer_man character awnser this one.

Pete, keep the program. Soon enough we'll get the PowerTab section up and you'll be able to download a good number of songs. Earlier, I meant that not being able to read music will only be bad if you're trying to write music with this program, but you can definately use it to learn how to play stuff on guitar, and you can even use it as a tool to learn how to read music if you want to (or at least certain aspects of it). Get the program back if you deleted it. I'll send you some of my stuff if you want some examples. Also, one of my PT files is posted here.

I was trying to PT a praise song. I don't play any songs from artist like Chris Rice, or Steven Curtis Chapman, or Delerious. I only play praise songs. BTW It was a song I've never heard before so maybe thats why I got so frustrated. I already deleted the program, but maybe I'll get it back.

OK, so you were wanting to tab out a song that's just strumming? You can do that with PowerTab, although it's pretty difficult to learn how to do and isn't the programs strong point.

Here's something I wrote in another thread.

This took me about an hour to figure out. First, click on the fret board grid. Then click on the grid in the new window. Enter in the chord the way you want it played. Pick the name you want for the chord. This all makes it a "cached chord." Then when you click on the "Cm" button, load up one of your cached chords. Enter in the rhythm you want for the strum pattern. This is the only way to do strumming with PowerTab Editor. Unfortunately it is hardly discussed in the help file.
