He had never really heard them at the time, and we weren't even dating yet... That was the night I knew that I liked him for sure. This show was ten times better than the first for a few reasons. 1)this time Dan and I are dating, so we could hold hands and stuff (eww, I know it's gross. sorry) 2)there was no "no-shave/no-deodorant/arms-constantly-above-her-head" girl being tossed about the crowd haphazardly because she was on some drug like there was last time. 3)the opening bands were better in my opinion. Actually, there were more opening bands. Last time only Viva Voce opened, and they were fun, but I really enjoyed Quasi and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Quote: |

And for everyone's viewing pleasure, I bring you all pictures!
1. Quasi (Janet from S-K is playing the keyboard in this pic, although she played the drums mostly, while the guy played the keyboard mostly -- sometimes with his head or legs.
2. A blurry Stephen Malkmus (they are all blurry) And no pictures of the Jicks...
3. Carrie of S-K tunes her guitar. It was very difficult to get a good one of her because she moves around so much when she is rocking out. btw, my suspicions were confirmed... she is a lesbian! And so is Janet!
4. Corin sings her heart out. She is the straight one (and according to Dan also the hottest), although my vote for hottest would have to go to Carrie, which works out I guess, if you think about it...

| Hello Lee! Hello Small! Hello everyone who missed me!
It's true that I have been missing from the intarwebs for a while (thanks, sweetie, for kind of filling in for me I guess). It's also true that I have been at Dan's parents' for the last five days or so, and this is only part of the reason I haven't been posting very much. The main reason is that Dan was also at his parents', which means that he was the one on the computer most of the time, leaving not-very-much time for me to, well, be here.
But I am back! And I am finally getting to fulfill a want that I have had for the last few months. I get to live in my apartment alone for a few days! I love my roommate, but most of the time I really don't understand why we live together. She is rather conservative and only listens to worship music. This is one of the main reasons I have not been in my room very much over the last three months (I'll save the other reasons for another post perhaps). And the less I am in our room, then more it feels like her room, not ours. But she is home in Hong Kong for the Christmas break, so I have it all to myself for a few days. I can finally walk around the house completely naked!!!
Oh, and the other good news is that my mom is coming to visit me on Saturday! I received some books and a DVD (Freaks and Geeks) in the mail a few days after I left, so she is going to bring them up for me since the books are ones that I will need for school. My mom is so great. She'll drive 5 hours in a day to bring me my textbooks.
The other perhaps not-so-good news is that I am meeting with the student body president tomorrow to talk about my grades. I am currently the Executive Director of Events for student council here at Trinity, but there is a GPA requirement to stay on council, and I definitely did NOT meet it this last semester. So, technically, I should not have a job this spring, but in past years this requirement has been overlooked. The thing is, I'm really worried about next semester. I am retaking two classes (both political philosophy courses) that I have previously failed, and I don't want the job to make me go even more insane than I already will be because of school. We'll see...

| I'm probably at least 20% more Emo now. Here are some pictures of my new haircut.
It even has some red streaks in the front. Don't worry, though. The good news is that I change my hair often, so it might not last very long.

I almost got to interview Janet. That will be my claim to fame until I get a new one.
EDIT: That first photo of you is creepy, it looks like your head has been chopped off |

That's a nice claim to fame.
Oh, that's too bad. If I had the original still, I would recrop it.
So I just met with James, the president, only to find out that ultimately the decision about whether I will stay on student council or not is to be made by Andrea, the vice president. So I called her and we will meet tonight. Actually, he made it sound like technically I am out of a job unless I make an appeal to the senate (previous presidents and vp's), which has been done in the past. The thing that gets me, though, is that this would not have been an issue unless I brought it up. That seems wrong to me. If you're going to have a GPA requirement, then it shouldn't be self-enforced. That seems to defeat the purpose of it.

| I'd have gone just for Stephen Malkmus. The man is glorious. I don't know much about Sleater-Kinney.

That does seem dumb. I hope it goes well for you.
Two weeks from tomorrow, I will get to see Sleater-Kinney. Among others. |

| Saturday my mom came up and took me out to lunch and then she had some shopping to do, so we went to some dollar stores. She bought me some stickers (a six foot roll of heart stickers!!) and an umbrella. I lost the umbrella I had bought this summer, but I won't lose this one. It's pink, green, yellow and purple and it's got a whistle attached to the handle!
When we got back from shopping my roommate was here, so my days of living alone ended. *sigh* Now I have to wear clothes.
Sammy is here! He's a friend who is taking his sweet time to graduate. He wasn't here for fall semester, and is only taking two classes this semester. It's good to have him back, though, as he was extremely missed. He was me and Dan's third wheel last year, and that is in no way an insult. So, anyway, the three of us played Texas Hold 'Em last night. Sammy won the first game and yours truly won the second. It was only the second time I've played poker ever, so I was pretty pleased.
Oh, I think I've pretty much decided to keep my job. Last semester I didn't do as much delegating as I should have and I think that's what stressed me out the most. I'm going to meet with the events assistants and see which events they are willing to take complete control of and then go from there. So I most likely will appeal it when administration tells me I have to step down. I like my job (and the paycheck that comes with it). I've just got to prioritize better.

| I know it's only January, but I've got what just might turn out to be the best news OF THE YEAR!
Last semester I took this class, Methods of Political Analysis, only because I need it to graduate. I received an F, because I turned in an assignment after the professor had handed in the final grades. Well, today I went to the prof to ask him if he wouldn't mind letting me retake it (via directed studies) this semester, and he said he looked at the assignment I handed in late and is willing to pass me!!! WHOOOOOO HOOOO!!! I don't have to retake the most hideous course in the Poli Sci department (the prof even said he was sorry that I was required to take it).
So, that means that I need to pick up another 3 credit course somewhere. These are my options: Intro to Mass Communications (but it's at 9:25am, so probably not), Leadership 300, Social psychology (which I might not mind, except it's taught by a psych prof, not a sociology prof, so I'm thinking not),or Public Speaking, which is my first choice. I will try to find the prof tomorrow to get signed in.
Other good news: I get to watch Freaks and Geeks tonight. Also, this is my 100th post! woot.

| My brother's had more than one 8 AM class. He's never happy about it. Actually, wouldn't Mass Communications and Public Speaking overlap a little bit?
