He was talking about the religion issue specifically... but... good point though. I forgot about that. Pesky federal government...

By the way: I'm probably coming across as the underage dork who's desperate for alcohol. I'm not really... I live in a college dorm and could easily have access to it if I could... and I don't really care... I guess it just doesn't make sense to me...

A clause in federal highway funds prevented any state that did not have the drinking age of 21, and that by and large raised the drinking age across the board. Except for Louisiana, which, for the longest time, had the worst roads in all of Christendom (and, it should be pointed out, still do). They finally decided that they can raise the drinking age from 18 to 21, or revert to using horse and buggy (or airboat in the Delta) as their main means of transportation.

We drink enough that we just don't notice them is all. I was so surprised when we moved down here to see single cans of beer sold at gas stations and I have yet to see anyone ask for ID on someone buying a single can of beer.

If adventure means having the undercarriage of our cars destroyed.

My father gave me some Merlot in my stocking for Christmas this year. It's a small bottle (not the really small bottles, 187ml). It was nice of him, and completely legal.

In Tennessee it is illegal for someone under 21 to:

a) Purchase alcohol
b) Possess alcohol
c) Consume alcohol (even if given by the parents, except the religious thing)

If you live in a state where "c" is not a stated law, I'd like to see you consume alcohol without doing either "a" or "b" or both. Not that I don't think you could, but it would be funny. It would probably require some sort of magic (depending on your lawyer).
