Anglican Essentials

So, I was reading the Anglican Journal just a minute ago and I came across an interesting article. There is an Anglican network called 'Anglican Essentials' which is a group that supports conservative and traditional values in a church which seems to be falling further and further to the left. Here is the article. If you scroll down to near the bottom it talks about some of the bishops reactions to this network. Bishops like Bishop Ingham of New Westminster have started punishing any clergy that supports the Essentials group. It's interesting, it seems like this group is a group standing up for righteousness in a corrupt church. If I remember correctly, I think we put the newsletters from this group in my church at home.

My old parish, St. James' Kingston, was heavily involved with Essentials, and my Rector, David, is also a pretty big leader in it. Of course everyone in Essentials loves J.I. Packer, who also goes to my church.

Hmm, who is this J.I. Packer? He sounds like an interesting guy.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't too happy about the whole ECT thing, though.

He's a writer, his best known work being Knowing God.

Packer was involved with that? It honestly wouldn't surprise me, considering his Christianity Today affiliations, but I don't have as big a bone with the Roman church as you do.
