Follow these 5 rules and you will be better.
1. Raise preflop. Do not change the raise amount often, if you have A,A raise the same you would if you had K,10 or even if you were to play 7,8 the key here is to apply pressure without giving away the strength of your hand.
2. Don't call preflop unless you would be willing to call a raise. Chances are you arn't getting away with a cheap look at the flop.
3. If you raise before the flop, you want to bet on the flop. If you don't it pretty much shows you have nothing, it kills any chance you have of bluffing later.
4. Folding when raised is only a small mistake. Calling with nothing is a large one. It is far better to take a small loss and live to fight another day (er... Hand).
5. Don't chase a draw to the river if it is going to be very costly.
And remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Large chip stacks are not built in a hand. Try to steal the blinds and small pots.
