| Best judge of character? What do you find to be the best judge of character? Specifically, what is it about a person which seems to tell you most accurately whether they are trouble (either for you personally or in general)?
I'll be back with my answer once I figure out which of the few I'm toying with is it, and won't get me shot here. |

| It depends on the time and the place. If someone comes into my dorm with a shotgun then I know that that guy is trouble. However, if I see that guy up north in deer country with a shotgun, I'd just think that he is sport hunting. |

| generally speaking, i admit i do judge a lot by appearance. sometimes my first impression is wrong, sometimes it's right. and if they use vulgar language or act inappropriately or obviously are doing something bad, then of course i figure they're trouble. and i think the friend of a troublemaker might also be trouble.

| The mullet. If they have a mullet, they're nothing but trouble. Simple, really.

| I dunno, but you can tell the good contractors by watching whether or not they smoke and drink while working. If they don't smoke or drink while working, they're trouble. Honestly.

| There isn't really a best judge of character, but there's a "sum of the whole" that you can get from an overall appearence. Usualy, after I talk to someone for a minitue, I can read who they are and where they're at (at least in a general sense).
Though I did find this funny. I read it on somethingawful the other day. Quote: |
You know, I don't really "get" piercing. Especially not the ones that seem like that would get in the way of every day life, but they are useful for identifying people who I would never want as a friend. Like if you have an earring with a gauge lower than most shotguns I think it's a reasonable assumption that you and I have absolutely nothing to talk to each other about.

As far as judge of character goes, I try not to judge on looks. But there are some people who you can automatically tell if your going to like them or not based on how they look. Mostly if I talk to them, and they say stuff that disturbs me then I try to distance myself.
But on the other hand, 1 of my best friends right now; when I first met him I just knew I wouldnt be caught dead hanging around someone like him. And now its like, he is one of the coolest people I know, and now we're really good friends. And if for whatever reason I had decided not to hangout with him, then I would have missed out on one of the best friendships Ive had in several years.

| Action. Action. Action. It's really kinda the whole James 2 idea... I'll show you what I really believe by what I do. Someone could tell me all day and twice on Tuesdays that they believe this or that, but if I then see them not doing this or that, well...

| I have an ability to "read" people. I can just sense it. And almost always right.

| The head. I like to feel a person's head. The bumps and craters tell me what sort of personality they have. Unfortunately most people don't stick around long enough for me to complete a reading. Consarnit. I don't care if phrenology is a pseudoscience, it's good enough for me. |

| Back with an answer which will most likely get me shot around here, but with exams and everything I'm not liable to notice, so meh.
Treatment of pets has been one of the most accurate ones for me, although it's not always practical because I don't see most people interacting with my/their pets. If I'd paid attention to this with my parents, as well as a few other people, I would have saved myself a lot of heartache. |
