Neighbourhood Dogs

Aren't they awful? There are so many on our street. Both of our next door neighbours have dogs and one of them is always coming over and crapping in our yard. As a matter of fact, I just shooed him away. Then a few doors down, there's this big crazy retreiver sort of dog. He used to run after me and jump on me every time I walked up the street. Then we have another one down the end of the road who, whenever I walk past with my dog, he barks insanely loud and jumps around and pretty much just goes crazy until we are out of earshot. He scares the crap out of me every time we walk past, I jump out of my skin pretty much every time.

Then there was the time when we lived in America and my Mum got bitten by a crazy neighbourhood dog.

Post your experiences with neighbourhood dogs.

My little community has the most dogs in the world!!
There EVERYWHERE!!!

One that stays up the road is crazy..It toor my jeans and toor my moms pants
and bit my brother around 3 to 5 times..(Hehe)
We have a dog on every street here..Just a geuss..Out of about 50 houses we
have about 30 dogs..And our community is really small..If you rushed you could
knock on every door in about 30 or 45 minutes.

I didn't know you lived in America. That must be why you seem so well-adjusted.

When I was in grade school, our neighbors had these big dogs that everyone was scared of. They weren't contained in any way, so they always run up and down the street, terrorizing little children like me. They would always just stand there and growl whenever I tried to walk by, so I didn't dare keep walking, and I didn't dare turn my back on them. So I would just stand there, with pee dripping down my leg, and quiver.

I remember walking my dog when I was in high school. He was a jittery cocker spaniel, and one time when we were walking in a strange neighborhood, a very large dog suddenly just "appeared" in the road ahead of us and started bounding toward us. I thought that maybe my dog, though undersized, would step up and defend me, or at least defend himself. Instead, his eyes got real big and he squatted right there and put down a smelly pile. Right there in the street. The big dog literally scared the crap out of him.

Once I was walking my Welsh Corgi, Jet, and an Irish Wolfhound and another dog come up from behind me and so I scooped up Jet (Who at the time was a little puppy) and walked back to the front door and slipped inside. That was scary, but at least the dog was friendly, not mean. Poor little guy, Jet was totally freaked, he'd never seen a dog taller then him. And he's about a foot high.
There are two pit bulls in my neighborhood and they have killed some pet bunnies and a little terrier.

Our next door neighbor has a couple of pure breed pameranians (SP?). They bark all through the night :/

IN America its screwed up. If a dog bites the head off your baby and you kill it, your going to prison. My dad has shot dogs with a .22 Long Rifle that wouldnt shut up late at night (strangly none died).

No it really happened were I used to live in jacksonville. A family was having a yard sale and their baby was in a stroller in the front lawn where everybody was at, a guy with a pitt bull came by, the Pitt bull went right over the the baby, pulled it out of the stroller and mauled it to death in like 10 seconds. The father of the baby beat the dog to death and get a 10 year prison term.

well... I hope the owner of the pit bull I shot, and the doberman don't catch wind of that... However, I used darts out of a high velocity air gun that were poisoned so they were silent.

Pit balls attacking people here are very common. Very. Though a dog that has attacked will be caught and put down and the owner charged.
