Martin Bucer

Jonathan, I know you did you're doing your thesis on this guy, so maybe you could help me.

Do any of Bucer's works survive? Specifically, those that indicate his theology concerning the sacraments and might shed some light on his involvement with Cranmer's Book of Common Prayer.

Many of Bucer's works survive - can you read German?

The Sunday liturgies of the church in Strassbourg can be found here - http://public.csusm.edu/public/guest...Liturgies.html

You'll want to get your hands on the series of articles edited by David Wright entitled "Martin Bucer : Reforming Church and Community" -- as well as his translation of some of Bucers works (a precious sliver) found in "The Common Places of Martin Bucer".

Also, you'll want to read Peter Martyr's works which are currently being published in English...he along with Bucer provided the biggest influences on Cranmer in the reformulation of the 1552 BCP - http://www.rts.edu/resources/pmv/

I'm also PMing you a chapter from my dissertation that deals with Bucer's Baptismal theology.

I'm a little bit infatuated with Cranmer right now, so his influences are of much interest to me.

Vershal, check out Cranmer - but also look into Peter Martyr Vermigli...his works have been gaining a lot of attention in the past 30 years. I *believe* that a 10+ volume set of his translated works are being produced by RTS(?).

Yup!
