Well, everyone goes through this stage! in fact, i'm going through this too! it is called the 'desert area'. this is when faith has no color. it's just nutral and 'there'. you know? just keep reading! try proverbs-- it interests me! (skip solomons and go to the others. they're more interesting).

also, if you have 35 bucks, go to your local Christian Bookstore and get the "student bible" by Zondervan (they are small and made of leather). it has a three-track bible study plan.

Try this: read the Bible for just one minute every day. It's a small start and it will help you start a good habit without overwhelming you.

Lee, I think you're onto something. I think the hardest part is to just have the discipline to start every day.

Once you do something every day for like three months, it becomes a normal, everyday habit.

For what it's worth, I like the minor prophets, revelation, the OT history books, and the books of the law best. They're definitely the "darkest" and most interesting. Daniel is a great read too.

You play guitar right. you could try puting your bible near your guitar so it reminds you to read. Also keep a journal, take notes about what you read, write down what God shows you. And dude we all go through dry times but remember this God is faithful. Look up PHILIPIANS 1:6.

I would sugest picking up christian literature and books. I am not a firm believer that God will turn his back on you if you dont read the bible every minute of everyday. Get into deeper things than just picking it up and reading it. Someone that just picks it up and reads it everyday but doesnt try to live like Christ is, IMO, a hippocrit.

does anyone ever have this happen to you, when you are reading, or praying for that matter, and your mind goes off on these wild tangents and you realize, " hey, how did i start thinking about commercials for icyhot when i was reading about jesus sending the demonic swine into the lake?" i always get distracted like that.
