Eddie Guerrero Passes Away at the Age of 38. My return from a 3+ month hiatus of CGR is marked by terrible news.
I'm not sure whether this thread should go in Movies/TV, Sports/Athletics, or General Discussion. Curse ambiguity...
Eddie Guerrero of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13. He was 38. His autopsy showed that he had died of heart failure. Many believe that his past drinking, drug abuse, the strenuous schedule of the WWE, and working out a lot caused/contributed to his heart failure. I believe that he had been sober since 2001. Eddie was also a Christian, so he's in a better place.
It's a shame. Eddie was a great wrestler. He was one of the best that the WWE had. He was able to capture so much passion from the people and from the business. Eddie loved to wrestle. He loved the fans. He loved his immediate family (wife, kids, etc.) and his wrestling family (WWE wrestlers). He was an inspiration. Eddie showed us all that you can always get back up no matter how hard or far you fall.
Although I did not know Eddie personally, I can say that he was a great man based on what I've been hearing from other wrestlers. Eddie is one of those few wrestlers that I have watched consistently ever since I started watching wrestling when I was 8 or 9.
This week's Raw and Smackdown were tribute shows to Eddie. There were no storylines. There were no angles. The show kept going because that's what Eddie would have wanted. I cried during Raw. Hearing the crowd chant Eddie's name and hearing the wrestlers talk about Eddie just got to me. It was hard seeing some of the toughest guys (Big Show, Batista, Benoit, etc.) just breaking down and crying their eyes out. I commend the WWE for honoring Eddie the way that they did.
Mr. Guerrero, you will most certainly be missed by many. |
