Pat Robertson Strikes Again!

This guy needs to be put out to pasture, away from mics and cameras and congregations.

This man is seriously retarded. This is sad because I know he would say it. It kills the funny.

I enjoyed the blog posting of one of her friends. Great English.

Pat Robertson is an idiot. If you don't know that by now, welcome to my 2 x 4 of truth, brother!

Pat Robertson is probably doing more damage to Christianity than any other outside source.

Guys, this article is a fake. Stop posting this ****, you come off as self-righteous. Also, you appear uneducated and unable to function in a modern information age if you can't divide fact from fiction.

I hope you can honestly say without a doubt you knew this was a joke. If not, you need to turn off the Internet.

YOU'RE doing damage to your faith by letting satire of it be transmitted as fact.

i picked it... what self respecting newspaper includes a reference to a 15 years old blog which makes a comment that is rather sick and inappropriate.

Its not even funny, he is too much of an easy target.

You I have no beef with. You stabbed at some stale rhetoric in this thread and didn't pop in with their typical tongue-wagging and the cliche Roberston bashes.

Lord knows I don't like the man, but there are better ways to conduct oneself than how some of these do in regards to his gaffes. The only thing worst would be to a put an "open letter" to Pat Robertson in a forum he never reads, just to condemn him and look intellectual.

The typical internet over-reaction was funny, though.

Wait, did someone seriously believe the article?

Because...after the "As every home schooled teenager knows" remark, I was definitely thinking something was up. On another note, I forgot that we (America) had a President by the name of Harrison. Have I mentioned that I'm homeschooled?

You aren't the only one who occasionally forgets stuff like that. I do, then when I ask about it, and get told that I already knew that but here's the info anyways, I go "DUH! *hits head*"

Was anyone treating it as truth? The comments were expressing shock about the topic of Pat Robertson in general. It's mildly offensive for you to come blazing in with the cavalry, all indignant, and telling us we've let "satire be transmitted as fact."

When an article is posted about a person, and then people make comments like "this guy needs to be put out to pasture", "that man is an idiot", "Pat Robertson is seriously retarded", "Pat Robertson is probably doing more damage to Christianity than any other outside source", etc., it would seem (at least to some people) that those comments are in reference to the article... not to mention that those are not very nice things to say about a fellow believer. Whether we agree with him, like him, or think he's crazy, that's not the really the best way to handle it.

I agree. The issue isn't even about the article being true or not. Comments like those made in this thread shouldn't be made, regardless of whether or not Pat actually said the things the article said he did. There's no real good way for a Christian to justify calling somebody "an idiot" or "seriously retarded."

Maybe people would start raising issue with such phrases if we were to outright say something like "Pat Robertson is a dumbass." But it's not really any different than calling him an idiot.
