Question Fender resonator bass??

There was a commercial that aired during Monday Night Football this week that had a country band (don't know who 'cause I don't listen to country music) singing a song for some product I can't remember. In the background was a bass player who was playing a resonator style bass guitar with f-holes in the shape of the F from the Fender logo. I went to Fender's web site and I don't see any evidence that Fender makes or ever made a resonator bass. Was this a cool custom shop creation or does Fender have a line of resonator basses? Did anyone else see that commercial and that bass or am I just being dillusional again?

Peace!

Don't know about Fender, but I know Regal makes one.

I've picked up one of those Regal's and played it here at a local shop a few weeks ago. I also played a Gibson in a shop in nashville, but I've never seen a Fender resonator bass. Those f holes I saw in that commercial were definately the trademark Fender "F". It was a very cool looking bass. I don't know, it was past my bed time when I saw it, maybe I just dreamed it or something...

Peace!

Alrightey Groover... Just so happens that I saw a music video with this bass in it today. The video was from Garth Brooks' new album Scarecrow and the song was "Wrapped Up In You". I'm guessing you might've seen a commercial for the album or something. I *tried* to get a screen capture of the streaming video I found, but when I try that all I get is the screen with black box where the video was...odd. So...here's a link to the video clip so you can check it out for yourself:

So there you have it... It's definitely a Fender, though...must be a Custom Shop production or a really old model. I couldn't find anything with Yahoo! on the bass itself.

Yes it's a true Fender

Fender made a Resonator bass till the mid 90's. The bass sounds like trash unpluged and a regular bass pluged in. Cool novelty item to have in the stable though.
