Lol, your subsonic wave worked! I saw no deer at all yesterday, lol.

Today, on the other hand...

Let's just say I'll have some more venison in about a week!

Got one this morning! Woohoo! The scoop, if anyone cares:

This morning, I got up about 6:15 or so. Showered with some anti-scent soap/shampoo, ate a little, then went out behind the guy's house into the woods. I got into position, and was sitting there for around fifteen minutes, when I heard rustling of leaves behind me and to my right. The area I was in was basically a valley in front of me. I was to the left (a few feet) of a path/trail thing. Behind me to the left was a dip in a ridge. To the right, behind me, where I heard the noise was a hill. When I looked, I saw a squirrel, and thought that was it. I started scanning the valley again for a minute or so, and then looked back, just to look again, ya know. When I looked back, I saw a large doe! Scared the fire out of me! I started shaking (You'll find that if you ever hunt, you will probably, no matter how "tough" you are. From what I've heard, everyone does it, even veteran hunters. I think it's from the adrenaline rush.), and slowly started turning around, staying as still/quiet as possible. Then, the deer looked at me. I felt for sure she'd seen me, but stayed still, completely, barely daring to breathe. The doe just kinda stared at me for a minute or so, but didn't smell me, because I was downwind. I don't know why, but then she decided to move on. She looked away, and started going on, as if she'd never suspected me of being there. I was able to shoulder my weapon without alerting her, and was lucky enough to get a really good shot. I'm really happy, t'was my first deer, and will make some good burgers!

[Hope that wasn't too gruesome or something, I dunno.]

Anyway, that is quite fantastic, pal! Your very first deer - and now some very nice venison to come. Quite an experience by the sound of it. Yeah, I can sort of imagine the adrenaline rush, but you sure did well. Wow, high excitement level, hey!

I personally didn't find anything gruesome.

Well, I wasn't sure, lol. I've never seen a hunting story, or a story associated with shooting something posted here, so I didn't know if it was taboo.

Nar, I reckon it's fine cos it's part of your life and you're sharing it with others in your Journal. And you expressed it all very gently, so I reckon that was good.

In any case, just look at the things that get written here in CGR - the range of topics and the things expressed is quite mammoth and really amazes me sometimes. It's a great thing in my opinion and Mickey has done something quite brilliant through this amazing Forum.

When do you go back to school BTW?

I just love your 'pretty sure' there, matey! So when you get up on Monday you'll ask yourself how sure you are that it is a school day, right, and on the basis of that either stay home or go, huh? haha

Most of the others seem to be back at school and one chick on the board, who is home-schooled, well her parents don't believe in Christmas so she didn't get any time off at all I don't think! (and while she didn't say, I don't think she was all that rapt about that...)

Well, I'm homeschooled, so it helps out a bit, lol. Well, yeah, now that I think of it, school resumes on Monday, though I don't like to say stuff like I'm 100% sure, because so many things can change.

Oh, okay, for some silly reason it hadn't occurred to me that you may be home-schooled! I'm rather amazed at how many of the friends I've been fortunate to get to know here on CGR are home-schooled. You have this a PILE more in America that we do here. We do have some Christian schools, but that's just about it.

Anyways, for the 2nd time today (I just did it to rkfan4/Sarah) I have to bring out my 'saying', which varies slightly according to what needs to be clearly stated at the time:

"Change is GOOD!"

There, now I feel better!

I'd revise that to say "Change can be good"

Uh-huh! Young fella picks up what is apparently a boo-boo of old fella!! Hmmm... thing is my 'saying' doesn't really cater for 'can' or 'may' or 'might'. Has to be 'IS'! *sigh* (Oh well, they say ya can't win 'em all...)

In any case, are we saying here that good change is good, but bad change isn't? But what is 'bad change'? The sort of thing that you and I post to when we find ppl hurting so bad they want to suicide? Bad things (bad changes in their life probly) brought them to this point.

But in God's economy I'm not so sure there's this dichotomy between 'good' and 'bad' (as were considering it here) like we humans have. I just lost $1,000 (I didn't really - just an example). Is this bad? According to our human reasoning, yep, sure is!

But hey, lookey here, God just did a miracle thing to 'make up' for the loss, something that would NOT have happened but for the bad thing (not a very good example, sorry, but I'm sure you see what I mean).

One of the things I really LOVE about my God is His astonishing ability, over and over and over, to take BAD... and turn it into GOOD!!! *just some thoughts!*

Yeah, I see your point. To me, change is good, but only if God's glory comes out of it, which, I suppose it does in the end, so change is good, lol

Yea, in the end. But changes, hrmph, while going on, sure can be pretty diabolical. Okay here I go in Hebrews again *grins*:

Hebrews 12
11 Now no chastening for the
present seems to be joyous, but
grievous
: nevertheless afterward it
yields a veritable harvest of the
peaceable fruit of righteousness
to them who are exercised by it.

Like you say, provided there's good comes in the end... then it's really good! And in that verse the Lord is so rapt (and gets glory) cos of our increased rightesness! - which was what He brought the bad things/changes along to ultimately produce anyway! Wow, Lord, I gotta say it, You sure are an awesome God!!!
