Just got a call today from a friend saying that a spot has opened up for a conference this weekend that was originally $80, but now I get to go without charge! Looks like I know what my weekend plans are now!

Aside from that, I have a Biology exam tomorrow, and that's about it for news... Can't really think of much else. Haven't gotten any more info on my deployment or anything, so pretty much not a lot is going on. *Shrug*

Sorry for the triple post, but I thought this thought train may merit its own post.

I've had a dilemma several times in my life, and I've reached it again. On the one hand, I want to do something like this conference. On the other hand, there are some friends I've been getting to know better lately, and they've invited me to do stuff with them two times, and I've wanted to hang out with them, but something else has always taken priority. I want to get to know them better, yet I keep refraining from creating the time/energy I need to make them a priority. Eventually, what I know will happen is that they'll stop inviting me to stuff because I'm always "too busy to hang out," as has happened in the past both with me and friends I know. It's just what happens, and it's understandable. If Friend X doesn't want to hang out with me, then why invite him?

I think what I need to do is invite them to go see a movie or something soon so I'm not seeming like I don't want to hang out, because, at the end of the day, "Man, I really wanna hang out, but X came up" doesn't really mean squat, especially if it's the twelfth time in a row that it's said.

My two cents.

Holy cow, I am exhausted. I've gotten about 5hrs of sleep each night for the past two nights, and have been active all day both days (including three hours of tackle football yesterday). Time to hit the hay early tonight for the first time in a looonnngggg time.

God is amazing. This weekend was an excellent time of worship and getting to know Him better, even in some ways I was honestly not expecting. I'm glad that God is eternal; if there was any way to know all of Him, then I'd have to call it quits. He's the only one who can satisfy me, yet still leave me hungering for more. Praise the Lord.

Oh yes... Totally going to pre-order Left 4 Dead 2!

Additionally, I'm looking at dropping about two grand into a really, really nice laptop. I'm stoked.

Yes and no. It's a Dell XPS, which I know is sturdy from friends' experience, but it doesn't exactly measure up to, say, a Toughbook (which would be awesome, but probably overkill and too expensive). So I think/hope it'll do well for me. Also going to buy a digital camera (possibly the one recommended in that thread, but maybe a smaller one). Lotsa buying going on!

That's what I'm hoping. I like the Quad-Core option

Picking up a new laptop tomorrow --- can't wait!

The specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz processor (800MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache, so not amazing, but very doable for my needs right now)
4 GB RAM
GeForce G210M GPU
And I think it has a 14.something" screen. Perfect.

This'll be my Iraqtop, so I'm not going all out on it... When I get back, however...
