UC shorthand
I suggest using +UC and -UC as shorthand for positive UC and negative UC, respectively.

If you have the 'UC' part of the short hand capitalised, it wastes valuable pinky time holding down shift or turning on and off caps lock.
To refine your idea, I suggest -uc and --uc. The last one is a double negative (thus a positive), because in order to create a +, you must hold down shift.
