Macleans college rankings 2006

Just had to flaunt my school spirit here and say that McGill tied with U of T for first in the new Macleans rankings

The complete rankings can be found here:

thoughts, comments?

Although you took first in Macleans and we only took third (Western) I think we were first in the Globe and Mail's report card.

The only difference is that the Globe and Mail's is entirely based on student surveys and Macleans is not.

Western is an excellent school. It should be on the radar in the US way more than it is. The disadvantage is that it is in London, while McGill is in Montreal. which makes us way cooler

By the way, I cam *this* close to getting to spend a weekend at Western, but the people didn't get back to me in time. Ah well, if I'm in London anytime soon I'll let you know

That's true. In terms of like historical or legacy stuff, London sucks. Like there is fun stuff to do but there really isn't 'interesting' stuff to do like visiting St. Joseph's Oratory or Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

Olympic stadium isn't exactly high on my list of things to do...the thing is ugly, pie neuf isn't the greatest neighborhood, and what's going on there now? dog shows? it was fun when the expos were there.

St Joseph's, on the other hand, is cool. yes yes

I thought St. Joseph's was freaking amazing. As well as Notre Dame. I saw a light show at Notre Dame that was pretty sweet. Olympic Stadium was cool because you can see the whole city from that observation deck.

oh, you saw "Et La Lumiere Fut" at Notre Dame??? AWESOME. I've heard it's really cool. I've been to mass there and to the vatican exhibit in the Crypt, but haven't made it to the light show

At my church, on Palm Sunday we walk over Mont Royal to get to the oratory...so much fun. We pause for prayer and singing while we're on the way and we carry palms and stuff. Lots of fun. A bit of a long walk for a normal jaunt over there, though.

I'm guessing the rankings don't include private universities.

Yeah, at first, they had a huge white sheet from one side to another, top to bottom, blocking off the alter. And they showed a video on that sheet. Then at the end, they blasted up the organ music and the sheet dropped revealing the alter in all its amazingness. For about two minutes they just shone different lights on the altar and played this intense music. It was amazing.

That's really very cool I don't often go down in that area, but I've seen the adverts for the light show. One of these days, maybe.

The whole church is spectacular, though. Actually, Montreal has a large number of spectacular churches. I quite like Marie Reine Du monde

Isn't that the church that is like a miniature version of St. Peter's in Rome?

I guess that all depends on your sense of fun. I've been to an Expos game, and... yikes. I'm not exactly much of a baseball fan. Dog shows win out every time in my book.

Still being caught up in the McGill/Concordia dilemma (Bishop's was included in that, but they want me to take a bunch of courses without credit... I don't think so), I have no further comment.

Wow, they put Montreal and Toronto at a deadlock for first place. what a shock . Looks like they're trying to stoke the forever old fires of rivalry between the two cities.

No kidding. It's a beautiful campus. I spent more time there than I did at my own school the second semester I was at Fanshawe. (Kinda helped that a good chunk of my classes were there as well).
