Seems to me when this didn't work against the VietCong, the IRA, the PLO, and (most interestingly) the Mujahadeen (the same guys we are dealing with now in AlQuida), it wasn't just democrats.
It also doesn't seem to have worked this time. Sure, Cheney told me a year ago that the Insurgency was "in it's last throws" and a few months before that I was told we had "broken the back of the insugency"; but it appears to have been one of those EX-AG-ER-A-TIONS. |
Not my point. My point was that this looks vaguely like past failed attempts to keep the peace that have come and gone. Its just in the past, the republicans have not been trying this crap. It is crap. My point was that its a new attempt only in the sense that it is a seperate political party assuming it would work because it is the first time this generation of republicans has tried it.
You are right. My point was more sarcastic of republicans than anything else. (If you have noticed, this administration has pushed me politically far more toward center) Its been proven wrong a thousand times, but the republicans will try it because they haven't before. The administration assumes that it will work because its new to them.
You can't defeat an ideology. Much less the very ideology with which our country was founded, and which we have trained countless others in.
