Hello, and welcome to CGR.

I lost my own cat a little over a year ago, under somewhat sketchier circumstances, and I know how it is when a pet is like family. Unfortunately, I can't give any advice for completely getting over it, persay, because I haven't; I've simply learned how to live with it. The things I've found which helped immensely were talking to people about it (although... be careful! some people can be mind-blowingly callous when it comes to pet loss) and doing what little could be done to put together a small memorial of sorts. I found some sites with helpful reading material on them, but can't seem to track them down right now. I'll do so this evening when I have a little more time; I'm just on my way out.

I'll be praying for you; PM me if you want to talk.

I've had a dog, rabbit & hamster die (not to mention lots of goldfish). The dog was old and we expected it (and then it happened on Sept 11) so that wasn't too hard to deal with.
I had a hard time dealing with the rabbit, and the hamster was the most recent.

My cat (Muffey) is recovering from a run in with our garage door this morning... we left for church and apparently she got crushed under it and we found her under it when we got back and hour and a half later. She had hypothermia and shock for a few hours but has stoped shaking now... she can still bairly walk and I don't think she'll be jumping again. We know she has some intestinal damage because of some bleeding where the accident occured so it'll probably be a few days to see if she'll live.

She's 18 or so and we decided she used up her vet visits with a poisioning thing a few years ago. So it's going to be a "wait and see."
