| Good Fight, Good Night Hey all...
I know I have alot of songs in different posts floating around out there. I just redid one of my older songs, and I would really like to hear what you think. Its a tribute to Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean. Its punk rockish, Short and humorous.
The words are as follows:
OH Mr Bean, If you were my Dad, Id run away from home
Oh Mr Beah, If you were my Son, Id be scared to leave you alone
Some people say, that you've got no common sense
but, Hey Mr. Bean lets face it...your dense
Its one of my better productions ive done...let me know what you think

| The production is unbelievably crisp. Pat yourself on the back, good sir. What'd you use to record this with?
I enjoyed the song immensley as well. Haha, Mr. Bean. You cah-razy kid.

| I use an Edirol Ua-1000 as my main interface...its a 10 input 10 output device. Basically a glorified USB soundcard. Guitars were an old awesome Kent Strat Copy through a Vox Pathfinder 10 miced with an Audix i5. Drums were mic'd with a Superlux drum mic set. Bass was a squier bass through a crate 100 watt amp recorded direct and mic'd the speaker. Vocals were recorded through a marshall v67m condensor mic.
I use Tracktion as my audio Host. I mix with Samson Resolv 65a's (active monitors)
I use alot of plugins during mixing too

| Quality wise, it's brilliant. I'm jealous of the crispiness, especially the drums. Bring the vocals up a bit, they sound good. Fun song! I like.

| Unfortunantly, My computers hard drive was physically damaged (bad power surge shorted it...badly) So I dont have access to any of my old songs, and stupid me didnt have any external backups...just alot of zipped files ON THE SAME DRIVE..
Here is the newest one Ive been working on...its strictly instrumental at the moment, but I am planning on either writing words and trying myself, or getting a better vocalist to give it a shot...let me know what you think...I know the mix isnt the best at the moment, but let me know what you think I could fix.

| Hello ALL!!
I just finished this little jazzy type idea. I will probably develop this into a full song, but I would like your opinions.
MODS...can you change the name of my thread to "Good Fight, Good Night!"

| I like it, it sounds like it could really go somewhere. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the drums. I'm not sure that it even needs drums. The way I'm hearing it is with this as the intro and first verse, then the drums coming in at the next part, be it a chorus, second verse or what have you. |

| I accidently buried the drums in this mix...(well, not buried, just too quiet).
Thanks for your comments. After listening it through different ears (after a break from it, not in recording mode) it reminds me of a Copeland song or something like that.

| Ok...I have here a new song for all to enjoy.
But..I have to do a bit of explaining. My sisters boyfriend is a really good singer/songwriter.
He came over the last 2 days, and we recorded. All songs were recorded in the Chapel of my church. He just does acoustic stuff...Well, we recorded this song, and thought...WHOA, this would make a really cool full band song...
We didnt know where it would go...and we did it pretty backwards so the timing gets a bit off in some places...we used no clicktrack, but this is what we did..
Acoustic
1 Electric guitar
Vocals
Another Electric Gutiar
Ebow
Drums
Bass
Now, I did quite a bit of mixing/tweaking...but the most awesome thing (to me at least) are the drums. I did a very basic stereo setup with a room mic about 20 ft away, and a kick mic about 2 ft away from the kit...Thats it...I have 1 compressor on the "Kick" mic, and thats it. It sounds very pedro-ish with all the verb.
So...let me know what you think...for those who keep up with the amps sub-forum, the electric guitars were recorded w/the deuce.

| I suppose I'm impeccably picky aobut my snare sounds, but I think it'd be a lot better to also have a mic on the snare (maybe a foot off, pointed at the snare). I think the snare itself you used might be tuned a little low. For poppy songs I really like a sharp snare sound.
Also, if it were me, I might just drench that eBow guitar in reverb... or maybe a little delay.
The bass is perhaps a bit too clear for my tastes, not deep enough, I'd prefer a fingered bass part, I'm not a very big fan of picking at all.
WIth the BGV, I like to cut off the consonants at some places where the BGV and the main vocal don't quite match up. I think it helps keep things clean-sounding.
The rhythm electric guitar isn't clear enough to me... I'm not sure what I'd do with it.
Good sounding song, just 7 tracks? Sendable? |

| THere is actually 15 tracks. 4 for drums. 2 for acoustic, 2 for first electric guitar, 1 for ebow, 1 additional electric guitar. 2 bass, 1 vocal 1 bgv 1 tambourine (now)...
This is a new version. I wish I would have gone for a stronger snare sound...but all has been done, and tracking is finished. I think this mix has just enough verb...I didnt add any to the ebow...no need to muddy up the song with more verb.
I did try to extend the audible bass frequencies...I had them high passed at around 40 or 50 hz. Hopefully the drums arent too loud in this mix. I listened on 2 different sets of speakers, but I guess my eMac speakers @ work will be the real test.

| I go for the really spacey ebow sound... kinda like Marching Bands Of Manhattan (Death Cab). BUt you're not hurting my feelings... Quote: |

| I think the acoustic gets way overpowering now. Before it was a bit buried, but now, IMO, it's way too out-there, it's not blending.
I'd still take some of the leadish electric lines, and add some delay. It's all just a bit dry to my tastes...
The very last vocal part is a bit buried. |

| Ok, here is a sneak peak at the newest version of my latest (and longest running) project.
Its a song called 'Rise Again' that I recorded back in the day, and had an awesome friend and even more awesome drummer help out. Theres no vocals and honestly, the drums are the only thing that are 100% 'final'
Let me know what you think.
[edit]...dangit...upload isnt working for some reason
