Views on Pentecostals

I've had it with them. I understand they have their faith and all, and it seems to work for them, but alot of the things my pastor preaches on in church I strongly disagree with. He insults other faiths any chance he gets. Particularly Baptist faith. I remember him talking about a church he went to, that during prayer time, the lights went out, and a disco ball came from the ceiling, and they all started praying. He stated to us that churches that bring devices of the world like that into the church don't worship the god in the Bible, they worship the god of this earth. So in other words, he was trying to say these other churches worship satan. The women look at you weird if you're a woman and wear pants, and say that women who wear makeup, are being like the world, and are imitating jezebell from the bible. They take everything, and turn it into something evil. Today, I called my friend and told him I'm going to my friends church. My friends church is a baptist church. He said "man, don't worry about the garbage they got going on their tonight, come join our service" That's exactly the type of talk that scares people off from God I think. Is when pastors preach on that type of thing, insult other churches, and when people who you think are your own friend say hurtful things like mine did over the phone. I'm tired of pentecostals. I'm going back to the baptist faith. I'm gonna get reprogrammed, and baptised into the second baptist church here in my town. My spirit feels too troubled being in the pentecostal faith!

What brought you to the pentecostal faith inthe first place? And just because 1 pentacostal church was how you explained, doesn't mean allthe other pentecostal churches are like that too.

I understand what you are saying completely! The division isn't right! However, it seems to me that there were no denominations in the early church. Maybe you should consider becoming a non-denomintational Christian. (We are all one body, right?) Even if you do decide to become Baptist, it's a big, brave move and I'll back you 100%.

That's true. Assembly of God is more laid back than is FPC. I was going to FPC. I'll just lump it up in one category then. ANY church who insults another church aren't true christians if you ask me. That's their belief, let them have it. I'm through with Pentecostals.

It feels like I'm under the watch of a cult now. They come to my work place all the time after church, and see me there. I've heard storys of people who have had to quit their jobs because they were constantly being harassed by pentecostals of their formal church, they would get ugly looks and such. Not all pentecostals are like the ones from my formal church I'm sure. It just really hurts to think you have a good church family, and they go and do the things this one did. These are christians we're talking about. It sort of makes you ask yourself what God they even worship. It talks about false messiahs in the bible. And for this church to say other churches don't worship the God they worship....hmmm!

No it doesn't. You're not talking about being a Baptist, you're talking about no longer being a Pentecostal. You are preaching to the choir.

I'm talking about becoming a Baptist. I feel it relates to the forum. If you don't, that's fine then. There are plenty of other threads for you to go visit!

I am pentecostal

I am a pentacostal and i just wanted to say that no, not ever pentacostal church is like that. My dad is the paster of my church and my dad has went and preached at the catholic church in my town once, and he has preached at the baptist church in our town and also had the baptist pastor come preach at our church. Not every church is against other religions...i hope and pray you find what God has for you, whether baptist or pentecostal.

you said something about FPC? I know that the Assemblies of God or the PAOC (Canada) are ok. sorry to hear about your *old* pastor. He shouldn't have said anything like that personally, i'v never been to a church that said anything like that, except once (let's not start a discussion about this) at a baptist church. The pastor was saying "things" about Pentecostals....
owell....some people are just like that

I may even try non-denom. We're all one body. And I'm sure that the church that's in heaven is non-denom!
