So I got my renewel thing in the mail the other day along with the reflective practice/quality assurance component. Supposed to be constantly creating goals/participating in activities to advance my learning/skills. It's so much work and it's going to have to be done now every single year. Im finding it kind of hard actually but maybe I just need a couple years to get the hang of it. After that it might not be so bad

Today I would like to be a ticket taker at Edwards' Theater. "Second theater on your right". I'd be good at it.
You would be great at that.

I can just imagine walking away from the podium after an encounter with you, with a really good sense of where I am going.

True, but I could put together an awesome Plan of Correction if I did mess up.

Ah, yes - you are right in the thick of it. It really is important, I just get tired of teaching it - especially to people who don't really buy into it. It starts sounding like so much rhetoric.

In-N-Out and medium rare steak. and Japanese and Thai food. You have delicious taste.

You would be almost as good a mechanic as an Edwards' Cinema ticket taker.

When I was 5 years old my father died. My brother, Stan, was 15 at the time. I started following Stan around like a puppy dog, and he was such a great big brother he seemed to be okay with it. In the mid 60's, I suppose a lot of poor teenage guys were shade-tree mechanics, but Stan was (and still is) an excellent mechanic and was under a car half the time. I would climb under there with him and help hold things in place and get wrenches for him, etc. There's a picture somewhere in my stuff of a pair of legs sticking out from under an old DeSoto, and if you look closely you can see two tiny bare feet barely sticking out as well.

In high school I took an aptitude test as part of my career-planning course, and what came up as the job that I am best suited for? A mechanic, of course. I think it's all part of the way my brain is wired for problem-solving.

AND, I could definitely go for some good sushi right now.

Not yet. Still waiting on God, but I can smell the winds of change.

I was talking with Paul (DaGeek) about the Prayer of Jabez a month or so ago. When you pray that prayer without reserve, you better be prepared to embrace whatever God gives you - no matter how hot or prickly it is. For him, "Expand my territories" meant "send me to Iraq if that's where I can serve You best".

Today we will be at Fresno State for the mousetrap car competition. The car that Leighanna and friends have built is a beast. I call it Frankencar. I'll take the video camera so she can post it.

I still find that so crazy, but so cool (in the sense that A) God obvious heard, B) God obvious answered, and C) He's given me peace about going, and I'm excited to do whatever He has for me over there).

One of her team mates has the car right now, so she'll get the video done when she gets it back. She wants to explain how it works.

That's great! Most parks use Delaware North as their vendor. They are a very reputable company. I think you would enjoy being part of ACMNP, Andrew. If your girlfriend signs up they can place you in the same park.

I've been doing a little bit of Christmas shopping, just trying to get ahead start. I'm trying to find a Black Peter doll or ornament for my friend Ursula. She grew up in Germany, and Saint Nick and Black Peter always came to visit their family. If your parents told Saint Nick that you had been bad, Black Peter would stuff you in his bag and carry you off to Spain. When she's being ornery (which is fairly often), I tell her I'm going to send Black Peter to her office.

In other news, I am very, very, tired of interviewing people.

If that were true, I'd be bad just to get a free trip to Spain, but maybe that's just me...

Do they have permanent positions open, or is this like an only during the summer thing? And Katy is heavily involved in her ministry right now, and gets like two weeks during the summer, thats it.
I was actually thinking of applying for a park out near you guys....kind kill two birds with one stone, see you and do ministry...what do you think?

Wow, I kind of wish we had Black Peter in our American iteration of the St. Nicholas mythos now.

That would sure beat the heck out of threatening children with a stocking full of coal.
