My cat was declwed and spayed 1 1/2 weeks ago, she was doing just fine. After being home 3 days she had loose stool ( from antibiotics) She stopped using the litterbox!! We are so upset, I cannot keep cleaning it up everyday its awful! she is 5 months old, We changed litter, box and location, still no luck, she seems afraid of the box, any advice??
shut her in the bathroom with her litterbox, food, and water for a few days or so and she'll figure it out ... if not, llnolium isn't hard to clean up. just make sure the floor is of similar easy cleaning surface!
Was the litter used after the operation (before or after the change) a sand or clay type? If so, it might have been very painful to use at first, and even if that has changed, the aversion might have stayed. (Of course, it's kind of a Catch-22 with things like this... sometimes the mere fact of different litter is enough to cause an aversion.) But definitely do call the vet, both to evaluate whether something else might not be wrong and for advice on encouraging your cat to use the litter box again.
my cats have always had to use that newspaper litter after being declawed. They don't like it and with the last cat I just mixed it with some of the regular litter.
