Help with a Paper

I have a paper due on Oct. 11th in my fitness class that I hope you guys can help spur some ideas about because I can't think much outside the box on this one.

I have to write a 2-3 page paper on the following:

"God wants us to take good care of our bodies. However, our personal fitness and appearance can become too important in our lives, in God's sight. From a Christian perspective, [B}list and discuss three possible indicators of both neglecting our bodies as well as making our physical health a false god.[/B] Try to integrate pertinent Bible passages within your paper."

I'm not too familuar with scipture passages regarding personal health and exalting our bodies above God so please any input about the subject would be helpful, especially scipture passages.

i think i know one: um...i don't remember the exact verse or the exact words but it goes:
the body is the temple of God.
so, we shouldn't treat our bodies badly or use them in the wrong way.

so, that's my 2 cents for this post today.
i'll come back tomorrow to look for some more.

nice christian fitness class you have...do you go to a christian school?

There are a couple verses that talk about gluttony, that may help on the body neglect side. But the body as a temple verse is not really about being in shape, or not drinking or doing drugs or smoking. It is talking about sexual morality. So that won't work for physical fitness.

I am at school right now, later I can get the specific verses for you.

Yea any imput is great. I attend Northwestern College (MN). It's a non-donomiantional christian college and I'm really enjoying it because they incorperate scripture with whatever there teaching, which I think is really neat.

Actually... that verse is talking about sexual sins...
(unless you're thinking of a different verse)

1 Corinthians 6:18-20
18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

... so it might not work in a fitness paper.

Laziness is fun stuff to talk about

U can use BibleGateway.com or blueletterbible.com and search for 'Glutton' 'Laz' (it will come up with both "lazy" and "laziness") and 'health' (?)

But other then that, use stats and charts. They work for me

Oooh, Oooh, 'Work' would also be good to search for

'eat'...
-im editing this as i think of more things-
