Contrary to popular belief, it IS possible for Christians to perform music that does not fit the usual Gospel/CCM/Praise & Worship genres.

That said, I dig Chevelle...not my fav band (I don't have a fav) but I like their style...sort of like Tool but cleaned-up a bit.

Their songs could use a few guitar solos, afaic...

Sort of. The vocals are similar, I guess. The music sounds somewhat different though and overall shorter than Tool's.

That would be a review not an interview.Do you have any proof that the songs are about Christ or God?

Comfortable Liar is my favorite song by them at the moment. I don't really care if they're christian or not.

On their first CD, there were several references to God and on Wonder What's Next, their song "Grab Thy Hand" was, to my knowledge, a song written to God. But other than that, I can't think of any other songs that had Christian-based lyrics.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but The Clincher is about claustrophobia. They say so on the Dualdisc. And the band themselves says consider the label of "Christian band" a bad thing. They also call themselves "recovering Catholics". I don't have an interview at the moment to back me up, but you should trust me anyways.

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal".
