It formed later. Theoretically, the space and matter would be self existant. The organization is what changes.

I just got back from a 3-day vacation and have no idea where to start responding.

I suggest we limit discussion on this thread to the thread title: the age of the earth.

Gsus and fallingup, if you guys would like to discuss other topics, such as the Big Bang and Relativity, evolution, or ancient cosmology, please start new threads accordingly.

have been gone for a long long time. Health issues, seeing my sone become established missionaries and ministry work in my church have kept me more than busy.

It is good to see many old names especially you Jerry Love.

W/o trying to rehash alot of the old arguments in this thread let me rehash why some of the old earth arguments are fallacious.

1. radiometric dating, while apparently correct mathematically and theoretically have to many factors that can alter the conclusions as has been empirically demonstrated and reported by the RATE commission.

2. These billion year long dates haven't been verified by billions of years-- though amazingly complex in their formulae- only billions of years with no variations in the rates of decay (which have been shown to vary) can hope to verify the theories.

3. Speciation is never a problem, that is just variation within a kind. Without getting into the arguments of what is a species we know that dogs are dogs and are different from cats. There are different kind of dogs and different kinds of cats but no cogs or dats.

Evolution from non life to life to the multiple variants of life we have just cannot happen- genetics prevent it. If it didn't then mapping out the genomes of various "kinds" would be pointless.

4 year old threads do not need raising. Please start a new thread if you wish. Half the folks in such threads have left years ago, and its like addressing the walls of a tomb.
