To Jr High and Sr High youth workers...

Congrats. You can be one of the most influential people in someones life, starting at grades 6-12. Especially early years of Jr High (6-7) can be a very critical time in how active someone is going to be in their youth group, and their church. YOU, along with the rest of the youth staff for your YG hold a major key in that. Be fun. Be encouraging. Love the kids by showing them attention, being cool, and then showing that you think they are cool. Once you have a bond such as that, YG will be something that kids will WANT to go to, and that makes ALL the difference. That is where the lessons can actually kick in and make a difference in their lives. YG should be a place where kids can see that there is something fun, but not filled in pleasures of sin (which is common in public schools). Then, once you have a good YG going, teach an attitude of love and acceptance. This will be great for all the kids in the YG to be loved, and will welcome any newcomers.

Can do Chief.

I'm actually getting really interested in being a role model in mine... One of the kids has some trouble having fun at youth group. So I'm gonna be working on him for the next few weeks. Pray for him. His name's Matt.

Thanks.

Tim

You'd be surprised, especially if there is a leader that they really like and that is giving them attention :d

Wow, that is exactly what I have happening in my youth group right now. This kid, Richard, told me last night that he doesn't think he will be coming anymore because he doesn't have fun and the other kids give him a hard time. He is a rad kid and I can totally see God working in him... pray for him too!

Alison -

Get some trusted kids in your yg together and find a way to show him love, and that you are glad he is there...

Yep, I've already had a talk with him about how much we love having him there, I've talked to other leaders and told them to love on him, and a few of the kids who will be all over it!
