| Biblical Prescription for Dishwashing? We don't currently have a dishwasher at home, and so I do a lot of dishes by hand. Often, I save time by not washing the outside of cups or the backside of plates or bowls unless there is obvious dirt on them. But whenever my wife catches me doing this, she gives me an earful (she's always nice about it).
I found this verse the other day and it seems that Jesus is on my side on this issue: "Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean." - Matthew 23:26
What do you think? It seems that I have a Biblical basis now for my time-saving, dish-washing strategy.

I thought about putting it in theology, but all I would get there would be Gavin trying to tell me what the "proper interpretation" of this passage should be.

| I wonder why we're so picky about dishes being "sanatized" and disinfected and all that stuff, I mean, with the exception of things used in raw-meat preperation, it was already clean enough to eat out of! All you really need to do is get the old food off :-P
I think it's mostly marketing, they hype it up till everyone is a germ-phobe.
I for one, in order to save washing dishes, will re-use things from the "dirty" pile if I know they were used for something not-too-dirty. (Like the knife mom used to slice tomatoes this afternoon, etc.)
I've been known to use a knife to peel a peach, rinse it off and stick it in the drainer "unwashed" I also don't wash my glass very often, coz I'm the only one who drinks out of it.

I like to wash dishes thoroughly so my rarely used utensils don't start to smell up the drawer. |

That seems like a good place to draw the line to me!

Or maybe you were saying that there wasn't much money in his gig?

My mother always said this was proof Jesus was a man. Id say he was God incarnate as well... One time she responded, Well he was male, and apparently no male, not even when he is God knows how to wash a dish.
She was pretty savage about it so I never mentioned it after that.
