Everyone Else is Asleep (RC)

I'm back again with another song born from a week at summer camp. I've now realized that I'm borrowing a little from Say Anything's "Slowly, Through a Vector" and Discover America's "Halves That Make Us Whole" (or was it "Everything Changes") with the melody of the song, but I think that's alright.

Everyone Else is Asleep

There's a light left on in your apartment

When you said that you were going to bed as soon as you got home
And you hoped that I wouldn't notice
How you never keep your promises even when they mean nothing to me

[chorus]
You say you're happy
That you have everything
But instead you're crying for hours while everyone else is asleep

Now you're hiding behind a window
Pretending that the world can't see you with the blinds wide open
And you're crying out for their attention
But their eyes never leave the sides of their loved ones, laughing as they pass by

[chorus]

[bridge]
Every little wishing well's run dry
Every little wishing well's run dry
You ran out of change, ran out of lies
Every little wishing well's run dry

You were unprepared (4x)
For love (4x)

The mind left to wander becomes horny and depressed
I think I'll take the night off from the world
Sequestered in a corner of my bedroom trying to sleep
I think I'll take this fight to the world

[chorus]

I really like this Skeeter...it's short-ish (not that this is a bad thing really) but the lyrics don't suck. I really love the imagery that this brings to mind. And yeah. Have any ideas for this musically yet?

Thanks. This one actually came out fully formed. I thought of the lyrics for the first verse and the chorus while in the shower complete with a melody and an idea of what I wanted to do with the guitar. As soon as I got out of the shower I wrote it all down and worked out the guitar in about ten minutes. The second verse came soon after, closely followed by the bridge as I was playing the song. I've just been polishing the music for the last week whenever I've had the chance. I'll record it as soon as I have the spare time at school next semester.

I've added to this song. There's a couple new parts:

[bridge]
Every little wishing well's run dry
Every little wishing well's run dry
You ran out of change, ran out of lies
Every little wishing well's run dry

You were unprepared (4x)
For love (4x)

The mind left to wander becomes horny and depressed
I think I'll take the night off from the world
Sequestered in a corner of my bedroom trying to sleep
I think I'll take this fight to the world

Good beginning image. Nothing spectacular, but it gets the song started just fine.

Simple, but I really like it. It kind of says a lot without having to say too much at all.

The last line seems to be headed in a different direction from the rest of the verse, but other than that it's good.

I like the wishing well image, cool stuff.

The shift from talking about the girl to you seems kind of sudden, and I don't think it resolves/concludes the song very well.

You've written much stronger songs, but with that said, this one's not half bad either.

Keep up the good writing man.

Many songs are an accomplishment. But if they don't mean much, they are nothing. One song with lyrics that are deep, means so much more-Hayden Ford
