It being a classic is nonconsequential. War and Peace is technically a classic. While it makes a lot of good points in the book and has some very desireable elements, as a book it just drags out too darn long. Quote:

| Great Expectations is what first comes to mind, but the more I think about it it seems that only the first half was boring, and the rest was actually somewhat funny. I enjoyed A Tale of Two Cities though, and thought it was overall way better.
Y'all keep naming books I loved though... The Invisible Man, Heart of Darkness, Frankenstein...

| Well, I thought that Frankenstein was a great story, but one that was written horribly.

If someone is going to say The Great Gatsby, we've got problems. You're messing with the greatest novel in American history. Screw Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitz is where it's at. |

| I think Stephen King's the Shinning movie was great! but the book bored me to tears, never finished it. I can't stand it when the book and the movies are nothing alike. |

I found "Religion and Politics in Iran" by Keddie to be particularly boring. Especially compared to anything by Nasr (senior) who is great. |

#103 | | Banned | Nasr, by the way (in response to a user comment), is Seyyed Hossein Nasr. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seyyed_Hossein_Nasr
He is the father of Vali Nasr who you may have seen interviewed on the Colbert Report for his book on "The Shia Revival". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vali_Nasr
If you need to learn about Islam, I STRONGLY suggest Seyyed's work over his son's and over most people. Though I have only read the Shia Revival by Vali, it was full of simple chronological errors and such that should have been corrected long before it became a book. This may have been because of the limited time that he had to put the book out in, so I'll give him another shot in the future, but his father's writing is great. |

Surprisingly, I liked 1984, so someone recommended this, and I despised this novel. |

| What? Oh man, Brave New World is anything but boring. Well, I guess there are a few slow parts, but the concept is so interesting and absurd! Between BNW and 1984, I'd say 1984 was easily more boring for me (though I love that one, too). |
