I just listened to some Dalek stuff. I can see some people would like that, but its still hard to really call good music. In Swollen Tongue Burns he does some interesting things, but just because he did something different doesn't mean its good. For instance, when people throw paint on a canvas and call it abstract art, someone might say they're creative, but that still doesn't mean that "art" is anywhere near as good as something from Rembrandt, Ruebens, DaVinci, or any average painter of the day. Even if the abstract art is more "creative" then something done by a run-of-the-mill artist 300 years ago, the painting from 300 years ago is probably still a better painting. Even though the painting itself was not spectacular in comparison to the master painters of the day, its still better then the new, less-improved, yet more "creative" art of today. This won't be true in every instance, but maybe you can see the point I'm trying to make.

The new thing I miss in music:

The secular thread before it had this discussion about rap music.

Not really, I'm afraid. The same arguments were used against Picasso, and he's pretty much the household name for genius painter.

You seem calling you lack to realize objective talent as your personal opinion. That's just not so.
Ahem...... Rappers are pathetic. Rapping is soooooo lame. And Dream Theater happens to be my fav. band at the mo.....
