depends on where you go to skool. but, other than that. Yah, pretty much.
Where i live there is only 2 high skools right now. We're the bandos and the other one is Band nerds. Just different terms since our bands are fighting back and forth over which one is better.

Marching band... I loved both Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons, as well as our 'Facets' show (that one was a compilation of different music).

Concert band: The Incredibles, which I had a pretty nice solo in (being jazz and all). In fact, I just saw/listened to the Incredibles yesterday (I was playing cards in the beginning), and the solo part is in the beginning part (while 'Mr. I.' is in his car, I believe... although it sounds like it could have been a tenor sax in the soundtrack).

Jazz band: hmm... Crazy Train was pretty fun... but I think 'Panic Button' would be my overall favorite. I did an improvision solo a couple times when the other 1st sax couldn't make it. Very fun song.

Pep Band: Probably 'Final Countdown'... although a lot of the 'classics' were fun too, like Time Warp, You can call me Al, Hey Baby, etc...

Peter Sampson, or he was until I graduated. Not sure what I'll do about band in Purdue... maybe year after this one.

Naturally, gutar... I can fumble my way through bass guitar... and thats about it.

Marching band - clarinet/bass clarinet
concert band - " " & contra bass (ohhh! itz shinny!)

ummmm.....concert band i think is more fun. Marching band is fun too....but our band just messes with the teacher's head too much so he gets mad. but we're somehow smart enough to pull it off exactly how we're suppost to at...where ever we are...
i play guitar also. bass,drums(somewhat) piano/keyboard (still working on it) and i can play alittle sax. since itz a clarinet flipped. and a few other things. But other than that. I'm the music freak who wants to play almost everything. Next goal is Chello!!! Funness!

I was able to go see my school perform in competition today. They took 2nd (behind first by .8 points), and they are in a very good position for the rest of the season, with plenty of room to grow. I was kinda worried about them, with my class being very large and now graduated, they only have maybe 5 seniors in the band (a big change from around... 15 or so...), so the band is overly smaller, and there are a large number of underclassmen comming in (can be a good or bad thing). Surprisingly, they did great today... some parts a little shaky, but they are definitely on track to a great season.

umm... sounds a bit odd...

I was able to go see my old band again a couple weeks ago. Very much improved; they have a serious chance of getting to State Finals this year (top 10 per class).

Oh, they just got the Greenwood performance on there... I'm gonna go watch that now.

Anyway, good show. The best part, IMHO is the 'turbulence' section (about 3/4 way through the show. Very, very cool stuff. I might edit it out and post it here if I have time and figure it out.

Ok; I just watched the Greenwood performance and it rocked. The cameras weren't set up well (they kept switching), but by far, their best performance so yet.

If do you watch them, keep in mind that the audio just doesn't come across on the video as it does in real life. Things are overly brass heavy, and sometimes just sounds bad on the video.

Couple shaky sections:
-opener (beginning song), a little phasing (tempo issues; much better than previous performances)
-part just after the 'turbulence' drum break... still needs work- musically weak, but improved.
-closer- marching muddy and some music issues.

They'll get it cleaned up in time. Districts (local-level elimination) is next week. The past 2 years we won our Districts (1st place), and I can't think of the last time that our school has ever 'not passed'. After that, 2 weeks until Regionals (2 per state, 5 bands per class per competition go on to State Finals at the RCA Dome). In my 4 years, we made it to State 1 year, and it was probably the single most incredible experience I've ever had. Simply... awesome.

They seriously have a great chance of making it to State Finals, and then doing well once they get there.

Oh, and the videos on the site are around 15 or 20mb each... just a warning to those stuck on dialup.

Wow! you must have an awesome band. I couldn't really tell you about my band. All that i know is that our band Director is one of the top 10 in the country, which is quite impressing if you actually know him. Weird guy....Mr. Jeff Tower of Hemet, CA. The dude's wack.
