i've been meanin to do this for a while, but i'll start posting some of my crappy poems, just so you guys can tear it up

Fair trial with an unjust complement
crack me open you'll see that i am
everything that you would hate and reject in

road signs not to far to go
statelines with pictures of our
wondering just how far that
we would let us go

well, if you say that i'm alright
the truth is your pretty close to the truth
but the miles are thorns as they
they bear down on me and you

step up to play the game again,
slow pitch with a short attention span
make sure you win this time

it may seem harder for you today
but its okay, you kno
i see more with my eyes closed

i was a gravestone
a statistic
till i found that look in your eyes
i was a child,
embracing its father
with peroxide, on my mind

the rolling thunder has proved me wrong
time and time again
i like to think theres a gift somewhere
but the rain it falls for days and days
and nothing is left but you and paper and pen

the material is still on my wrist
it shows me the world that i used to forget
i know i'm a fool and i know that i'm gray
but her heart has got more to say

there are water towers as far as i can see
engraved in their thickwalled hulls
letters where i wish i could be

lately i've been dreaming of an angel

lately i've noticed you noticed me
when i've always noticed you

my heart only beats through you
my eyes never saw till the second they saw you
but you still sing your pop songs they still cry me to sleep
until my telephone screams

those old pictures will tear you apart
place the parts in a box ship you to a new start
with a new face masked by a new love
with a family of binary words

the rhyme rings false again
and i don't understand the meaning of this
materialistic indvidual place
we'll never turn out this way

sleep perfectly in deafening silence
a yellow bird perched proudly on your soul

great poets had greater rhyms
and their poems had value in their place and time

its been 3 weeks since i've seen your face
and they'll never figure it out
