Pentagon Creating Student Database

http://news.yahoo.com/s/washpost/pen...BhBHNlYwM5NjQ-

Completely and utterly outrageous. I'm super-pissed right now. How fascist! First the "PATRIOT" Act, then the back-door draft with reservists, the anti-flag burning law, the Supreme Court ruling that municipal governments can now seize your home no-questions-asked, and now this.

I mourn for the future of this country. "Land of the free"...one word: BULL!

If I remember correctly this is just a piece of the TIA (Total Information Awareness) that some members of congress (with the pentagon backing) attempted to pass 2 years ago. Originally after 9/11 they where to create several huge databases that would be controlled by the Information Awareness Office.

At one point I had a graphic that I received at work on the overall design of the different systems/databases they where to create (I had worked on implementing the SEVIS changes in our software). Can't seem to find it right now.

You sound like you're asking for and not a government. On the comment of being against anti-flag burning law. Burning the American flag out of hatred for this country besides being disrespectful(and that applies to the burning of any nation's flag) is unAmerican and unpatriotic. It is abusing the symbol of the freedom that America is given.

To me the student database sounds like something intended to help protect our citizens. the only people who have any reason to be against this or the issues you stated must, except draft, are those who have given a reason by breaking the law or participated in related acts. I don't see any threat as long as KGB agents don't show up at my door, and I don't think this is a Big Brother threat.

Firstly: So what? Why should we legally mandate respectful patriotism?

Secondly: I think putting nurse's uniforms on statues of soldiers is disrepectful and unpatriotic. When will we get that ammendment? How many thousands would you like to make?

We could just make a general one that lets us jail people indefinately for being "unpatriotic". That would work. Heavens know it worked for Stalin. It's working right now for China. I believe Saddam did something similar as well, and I know the Nazis did.

BTW, what do you think of the patriotism of the founding fathers? They rebelled.

Why wouldn't they show up at your door? Your religious beliefs mean that your patriotic nationalism may be compramised by an alligence to a religious doctorine. We should install cameras in your home (what do you have to worry about? You are not breaking the law are you?).

Of coruse, perhaps I have it backwards. Perhaps the government will decide you are not religious enough, and are attending the wrong denominations church. Perhaps we should put your children in a house with more "right-thinking", you haven't, afterall, baught your quota of flags yet.
