| violin distortion I have a question for all you hardcore violinists out there. What does it sound like when you plug an electric violin into an effects pedal? Does sound the same as a guitar, or is it really strange? |

I'll post a clip of my fake cello distortion on here (using a trick with the mic.) and may someone can compare it to the real thing? |

| It really depends on the effect. I used a POD & floorboard with my electric fiddle for a while on worship team some years back. Chorus/flange/other modulation effects never sounded that good to me, since non-freeted instruments are hard enough play in tune. Too much overdrive or distortion just sounds overly fuzzy, unless that you're going for. But delay/echos, tremolo, and wahs tend to be more sonically friendly. Hope this helps.

| I went to a Bowfire concert, a collection of ten different violinists. One of them had a distortion pedel, and it actually sounded good.

| yeah..i've a got a j-station for guitar that works really great for cool effects on the violin: wah, distortion, acoustic, anything you can imagine...
i think some guitar pedals/effects work nice.

| The guys from the TransSiberian Orchestra use od on some of their violins. They sound pretty good.

| Alright, here ya go. Here's a clip from when I stuck a piezo pickup beneath the bridge of my bud's viola. A dry track followed by the same one processed with digital distortion (VST plugin), a bit of reverb throughout. |

| That was the coolest piece of violin music I've ever heard!!! Sounds like an insane Lead Guitarist using a violin. You seem to be pretty good at the violin, man |

Firstly, that's not a violin. Secondly, Rainer's not playing it. His friend is. Thirdly, the level of difficulty is nothing. |
