Used D'Jembe

I have been looking into buying a D'Jembe for a few months now. I want to buy a 14" (or something in that range). I went to Guitar Center to check some out and they are all like $500! I know I can find a cheaper one if I look other places but I was thinking that maybe used is the best way to go. A friend of mine has a 14" Remo D'Jembe that she doesn't use very much and she said that she would be willing to sell it to me. It's in pretty good condition except the design thing that Remo puts on the outside of the shell is peeling a little bit. Neither one of us know how much used D'Jembes sell for so I was wondering how much I should offer (she's a friend of mine so I don't want to rip her off). I was thinking of offering $100 but I'm thinking it might be a little bit low.

^^This is a photo I found on ebay that is similar to the one she has. Hopefully this will give you a better idea of what I'm looking for. Let me know if you have a better idea for price or if you think I should go a different route. I want a D'Jembe that sounds good and that I can use for a long time but it doesn't have to be amazing. I originally didn't want to go with Remo but I am reconsidering it. Please give me feedback.

$100 is good price. You can get that exact drum online right now new for $180.

Also, I don't what guitar center you went to. The highest priced one at mine is around $300.

Good to know

One more question:
Does anyone know of any other decent D'Jembes that I can get new for around the $150 price range? That would probably be ideal.

www.musiciansfriend.com has a lot of good djembes. I personally like the remos though, since they're a good price, they've got a nice sound (though it's not too hard to get better), and they're easily tunable, and the it's easy to get new heads. With a lot of random djembes, once something breaks, you're out the couple hundred you spent on the drum.
