| Best Actor in a Star Wars movie now that the series is complete (for now i guess), who has turned in your favorite acting proformance in any of the six star wars movies? i'll try to be more than fair and give ya'll as many choices as i can think of.
sure, the movies haven't always had the highest caliber of actors, but there were a few shining spots in the series. IMO there are two really good actors that have been involved the the series, Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan in the NT, and of course, Harrison Ford in the OT. but to chose a favorite, i'd have to say Ford, but that may be partly due to the sub-par writing that McGregor has gotten, and partly because Ford pretty much pushed the series above the mark.

| Being lame and awesome at the same, I have not seen the original trilogy.
Ewan McGregor is a fantastic actor, and SW was good to have him. Natalie Portman is not the best actress, but she makes for a lot of goodness in general.
Also good in the new trilogy:
Okay, so there is nobody else good in the new trilogy. :/ |

| Harrison Ford, closely followed by Alec Guiness. And that's mostly because Harrison Ford got to be in all three movies |

Lemme see if I can break this down a bit.
Billy Dee was good, but he didn't ever have enough screen time to get anything really going.
While Darth Vader takes the award for Best Character without a fight, his persona was far more than just his voice. As such, James Earl is out.
Natalie Portman, a very good actress otherwise, was given some of the worst dialogue in the history of man to work with. And, even though she's by far the best looking cast member, she's out.
Samuel L. Jackson was stiff as a telephone pole throughout all three of his movies. So he's out. Even though he's freaking Samuel L. Jackson.
Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker have given two of the most instantly recognizable characters in movie history. But that's mainly because they are the only ones George has consistently given good parts. So no to them.
Carrie Fisher was hot, but she always took on the vocal characteristics of whoever she was talking to. For instance, when she was talking to Tarkin, she suddenly got a British accent. Later, when she was talking to Lando, she would say "Han" like rhymes with "pan", as opposed to how she and everyone else normally said it. So no.
Jake and Hayden....HECK NO. Hayden partially redeemed himself in Ep. III with his emotion, but still. Heck no.
Now we come to the best. Mark Hamill was excellent, particularly at the end of Empire and in Jedi. But his whiny farmboy got on my nerves. So no.
Sir Alec portrayed the mento roll very well, but he wasn't given enough to really showcase himself. Close, but no.
Ewan was one of the few redeeming factors of the PT. He was good in Ep. 1, great in II, and awesome in III. But, many of his lines in Ep. III, crappy as they were, came across as very forced and insincere.
Frank Oz made Yoda live, expanding the character in every single movie. In my mind, the greatest performances are a tie between Frank Oz and Harrison Ford.

Basically, I still had not seen them when Episode I came out, so I just decided to wait.
Next week, I will finally see Episode III. I already have the original trilogy on DVD, so I can start watching them soon. Very soon. |

| My worthy opponent, you may very well end up being the only person in history to ever see the Star Wars series in chronological order. Wow. Don't mess it up by watching the OT out of order or anything like that.

Actually, I'm changing my vote to Alec Guiness. Harrison Ford was good, but Sir Alec was sublime. |

| i think that Alec Guiness did a wonderful job setting up the image of Oni-Wan, i wish he would have been able to do more, then he'd really have my vote. thinking about it now, if i could, i'd change my vote to Ewan McGregor. i saw a short documentary on all the work he put in to match the image set up by Guiness. if you think about it, you really do get the sense that Ewan could be a younger Alec, and he had some of Alec's manurisms down. i think they might have started him off a little to young in Ep. I though, because between ep. III and IV there is 19-20 years, and Alec looks about 40+ years older than the ep. III Ewan.

| I think Harrison Ford, because all the scenes in the first three that he are in are much better than scenes he wasn't in.
Second Alec Ginness (or however you spell it) cause he had the same effect as Ford.
Ewen McGregor wasn't too bad. |
